Hi Red

If your son wants to fit 16" wheels to his Saxo VTR the best width is either 6.5 or 7.0 x 16".
As not that many wheels are made in 6.5" wide 7.0" is the most used.
We have fitted many sets to these cars and the best tyre size is a 195/40/16 tyre, however as not many manufacturers make this size tyre the most commonly used is 195/45/16 as it is also the cheaper option.

If you go for the 195/40s you will get no catching on the wheel arches and still have the option of lowering the car if you want to later or if it is already lowered.
Give me a call if you have any other questions.
We dont just sell Subaru parts!!!!!
