Help me convince my inlaws not to buy...
... a Hyundai Santa Fe CDi V6 petrol 2.7
I've had a go about pants build quality, high fuel consumption, 4wd servicing and tyre costs and the general fact they're poop.
Any more ammo or real life experience?
If they get one, they can never come round again.
(Hmmm, looking for a downside.... )

They would be far better off with the Kia Sedona 2.5 CRDi if they want a budget 4X4. You can pick up the last of the old models pre-reg for around £16k.
If they are set on the Hyundia then they must go for the 2.2 diesel, the V6 petrol is pants.
What Car Verdict.
FOR
The new Santa Fe is smooth, refined, spacious and really well built.
The new diesel is a gem, either with a manual or an auto gearbox.
AGAINST
Petrol V6 is weak and expensive to run, off-road capabilities are limited,
and prices are up substantially
Cheers

the older you get the worse your choice of car gets. My Dad was going on for months how he was going to get a Scoob as he loves mine and then he went and bought a Volvo V40 (1.8)

Just had one of these on demo... actually quite nice to drive!............ Until the novelty wears off, after a week i was glad to hand it back!
Pro's,
Very smooth
Roomy
Lots of storage space/cubby holes etc.
Thats about it !
Con's
Mirrors are too small, parking is NOT fun!
Steering feel is non existant/far too light, go through a s bend and you end up all over the place.
Power ??? So gutless! And i mean genuinely the slowest thing i've drove for years!
I saw 2 on the side of the road with RAC vans beside them while i was in mine, does'nt inspire confidence.
Sound quality of the radio was so bad to the point of turning it off every journey.
And at the end of the day... What is it trying to be? It's so big, but it has 4/5 seats... So its not an mpv but it's not a car? But you might as well have a car, if that makes sense!

Buy the Santa Fe YES, Petrol version no unless obviously they have shares in Shell, Texaco or BP
The new Sata Fe is a really nice car & is a good choice the Diesel lump is refined and reliable {from what I hear} My wife has the older shape Santa Fe on a 54 plate and has had no problems yet, except a possible recent recall for a full pipe.
