Commuter
I hear of more and more people leaving the family car / AWD / gas guzzler / or rally bred monster at home, and running some 50hp 50mpg city car as a commuter. With the likes of the Toyota Aygo, Citroen C2 and Ford Ka it is often hard to resist.
So with that in mind - I tripped across an add for a Hyundai Getz. The usual credentials, small, cheap, frugal does what it is supposed to do. But the latest offer means you can be in a 1.1 variant for £5995 OTR with 3 years free servicing, 3 years RAC and 5 years warranty. Looking at used cars, £3k buys you a 40k miles 3 year old example. Seems pretty good to me? Surely this is the best all rounder for a commuter job?

It looks sh!te, will be worth nothing in three years time, and has no character or feel what so ever. Why do it to yourself? You work hard, you deserve better
Commuter or not that is a duff idea.
Just my opion.

Good cheap motoring there. If its cheap and least hassle you want, then I don't have anything much better to suggest. I thought of the Citroen C2 1.4 HDi, seen some at £6995 6mths old with del. mileage, 60mpg, group nothing insurance.
If its cheap motoring you desire, ignore fashion and snide comments and go for the least cost option. One of my colleagues runs a 1.0 Picanto. Bought it for less £6k new with free insurance, drives Stevenage to Harrow daily, does 55mpg or better, can't get much cheaper than that.
PS The Getz 1.1 SE 3dr, doesn't have 3yrs servicing included in the offer though.....

I have a 1998 Fiesta 1.8 Diesel (non-turbo!). It's the slowest P.O.S. I've ever driven but I'm loving running it on recycled chip fat and parking the ****** anywhere without having to give a ****e about it
Scoob's tucked up safe for the weekend
Cost? £500.....maaarv-lias

I've just taken a gamble and bought a clapped out Pug 205 1.1 for 50 quid, i took it for an MOT and it failed on Back box, rear fog light and front brakes. went to BMS tonight and got all the stuff for 60 quid and will cost 50 to get a garage to fit it.
Slow as buggery but 45-50 mpg and dirt cheap parts and liek someone else said park it at Tesco's etc and who gives a s**t if you get a ding in it.
For teh fuel i put in my Scoob a month i have put a car on the road.
Having said that the Insurance was 4 times the cost of the car
