Re-mapped Golf TDI performance
Just got hold of some new kit that I will be using within the modification articles, to record and log performance figures.
Been testing today and managed to get the following times in my re-mapped 200bhp Golf TDI:
0-60mph: 7.5s
1/4: 15.9s @ 93.4mph
Not bad considering it was wet and it struggled to get any power down in 1st and 2nd, but was what I expected in the conditions. I wont tell you what I got in the Spec C .... thats for the article section in the near future.
Regards,
Shaun.

dont think you would do much better tbh ,i saw a golf gti tdi 150 modded to 220 bhp with grreat big 19 inch wheels run at pod on a day with good conditions,i.e plenty of grip ,and he couldnt get under 15 seconds .Suffered massive traction problems and had to change gear to many times with too short a power band .
Awesome mid range but thats no good on track

I managed a 15 in my Fabia vRS. 6.3 0-60 i think.
A mapped Seat Cupra 160 TDI will dip into the 14's and midrange will push a new age STI through 3 figure barier once moving. Not bad for what they are!

mg driver,
I think I could quite easily knock some time of those figures I attained today in the wet.
Andy M3,
Those would be the kind of times I would expect in good conditions. Still.... pretty good times achieved in the wet though.

Blow Dog,
196bhp/285lbft on Powerstation's rollers.
NotoriousREV,
It has been live mapped on the road and not just had a tuning box whacked on it. I could of had a little over 200bhp, but didnt want the smoke.
Car has now done 70k miles and hasnt caused me any problems.

0-60mph has been reduced down to 7.1sec..... still in damp conditions though (starting to get the launch together). Some more left to go me thinks on a totally dry run.

Would starting in second gear help?
I know it's not an ideal comparison, but in one of the first tests in Autocar of the Passat with the PD130 motor, they quoted a 0-60 time starting in second gear, and it was 0.2 seconds QUICKER than starting in first.
It won't help your 60ft time, however
