Question Audi S4 Avant 600hp

Picking up on a thread in the RS246 forum. I read that MTM charges approximately 40000 Euro or, £27'237 for a 600hp conversion on your 2.7 S4. I think this is a complete package. So a decent donor car is around £12k, and I imagine the avant would be more useful and be more efficient through the air at almost 200mph.

So. Circa 1600 kg's, 600hp and £40000 for a 5 year old 600hp Audi.

Would you ?

True. But an RS4 needs an extra 58% more power to match my hypothetical Audi. I imagine a supercar would be the closest comparison performance wise. GT2 maybe - with a remap, 500hp ?

Spending big money on tuning is just a waste IMO, as it doesnt really add very much value to the car.

Mild tuning is ok, but anything more puts off buyers when you come to sell.

I'd rather spend £10k more on an RS4 which would probably work out cheaper by the time you came to sell (you'd get more back), and you could probably get 500bhp+ out of the new RS4 simply chipping it.

If i had the disposable cash then i'd do the conversion

If you can afford it then why not, much more individual to be in a 600bhp S4 than an RS with less hp.

The new RS4 is a V8 and so will be expensive to attain extra power, not simply a case of remap and get 500+. Although if your thinking about resale values, which IMO in a case like this is pointless, then the RS4 is the car to get, it is simply amazing

35k for a good 30k mile rs6 (450 BHP)

6k for stage 2+ conversion to 535bhp.

Much better resale value too, you would lose a lot of cash on the S4 600bhp route IMHO.

yeh, you'd lose SOOOO much money, but what a hoot

Personally, I'd rather go for the RS4 Avant, and mod that....... better car IMHO. Wish I could have afforded the RS over my S4, but we all need cars to look forward too

Better depending on what you are looking for. I looked at both but the RS6 was leagues ahead in almost every way despite paying the premium.
