Mine is a 52 plate with 94k on the clock and only thing to be replaced was the fuel rail, still going very strong, mine is a Diesel though, you don't say what engine you are refering to?

100k is no problem, especially as its likely to have done most of it on a motorway.

Always amazes me how people think a car is dead when its done over 100k miles. Far from the truth with a modern car.

I had two Mk3 Mondeos (briefly). They seem pretty bullet proof.

Tell me about it, seen loads of really good clean cars for sale but the misses always says no because theyve done 90k+ miles, doing my head in.

A good mate of mine has a 52 plate TDCi with over 145k miles on it. Still goes well and is essentially rattle free. Don't let the mileage put you off, provided it's backed up with FSH etc.

In which case, why did you have two - briefly?

I had a TDCi 130 on a temporary basis which I thought was great so I decided to get a ST220. I didn't like the ST so much though - chassis was a bit too stiff (seemed to take all the fun away) and steering not as talkative as other Mondeos. So got rid and went back to another RS.

TDCI: http://www.forddesktops.com/images/zetecs.jpg
ST220: http://www.forddesktops.com/images/st220.jpg

Both had a few miles on the clock and were very reliable for me.

The Duratec 4 cylinder and V6 petrol, TTDi diesel and TDCi diesels have chain driven cams.
