500 bhp Volvo T5 !!!!!!!!!!
i spotted a Volvo 850R at Avon Park yesterday (1/4 mile strip), it was stickered up with '500 horses and just one jokey' - lol. Anyway, it sounds mint and looked very aggressive with one light missing and the grill etc. It was 100% race built with slick tyres and rock hard suspension and a turbo the size of a small country.
I think the it was having running problems though as the 1st couple of runs were 14 something. I think he managed a 13 dead at 112 mph, but i recon it could crack 12's.

If he's race built he must have had big problems as 500bhp should see terminals nearer 130mph. I'd have expected a 300bhp car to manage that.
Would be interested to see what it does when it's running OK tho.

Volvo's aren't that heavy. 1400-1500 kg's for a top spec estate.
Moonloops, I can see you are confused, Volvo's are FWD and aren't the best sprinters. From 100+ is where they make their mark best, hence traffic police like to use them on the motorway. Your STI is ideal for 0-100 stuff.
Brett I did record it on my phone, but you can't hear it over a bloody V8 Capri that was revving in front of me !!!!! But trust me it sounded EVIL, not dissimilar to a jet engine !

Yep, left a coulple of classic Scoobs with mine, much quicker past a ton, a match below and no where near from a standstill, driveline is pretty tough and sometimes you would think the clutch was slipping but it was one tyre vapourising, an LSD might have been in order.
T5 estate is 1420 kilos, less without aircon.

I've heard so much bollox about this car, and I've spoken to the owner..
one minute it's 1000bhp, then it's this, then he told us he wanted 850bhp at the wheels but it was only 700bhp at the wheels etc etc
Best bit was when he told us he'd done 200mph up Bluebell hill

Hmm - 200mph. I doubt it !
I also noticed that it needs nos just to move as the Turbo is so huge. Would have loved to have seen a 1/2 mile run though

Hi guys..
I map this car..
today on the rollers it made 480bhp at the wheels without the NOS and it was spinning so producing more than the shown 480bhp@wheels..
the problem at Avon Park was both grip (cold tarmac and FWD) and it was Stuarts first 1/4.

but I think perhaps downhill might have more chance.. the face of the Police officer that sometimes parks on the flyover would be a picture..
