Cooper S
Had a go with one of these on the way home, drag from a standstill, nothing in it, rolling start from 30 to err a bit more, dead even heat, thought they were quicker than that !
I was in a Y reg Saab 9-3 LPT (Soon to be replaced by a Focus ST), the guy looked crestfallen, he was expecting to blitz me. I have to add that I did not bother when the road got bendy, I hadnt taken my seasickness tablets and I dont want to grind another set of door sliders, I mean handles down, plus the alarming clonk from the front suspension puts me off as well.
You have to forgive me, I have to take my jollies where I can get them and upsetting a Mini owners ego fits in with my profile.

They are pretty slow std 0-100 in 22 secs ish...
Watch out for the tuned ones though mine was pretty nippy with over 210hp..
Still thought it would have done your Saab though, 1600kg's and 150hp LOL

'1600kg's and 150hp LOL'
Nah, much lighter, typically under 1400 and mine doent have aircon or much else so perhaps 1350, plus its torquey 177llbs ft v the minis 162, and it does seem quick, even after a Fiat Coupe turbo,Volvo t5 and other sportier cars.
My mate suspects its been got at by the previous owner, I am not so sure.
Still Focus St beckons, will be gutted if it only feels a bit quicker having spent all that.

Not sure where I got 1600kg/s from
I've now got double the HP as I've got a 400hp S Type R, obviously it's quite a bit quicker than my tuned Cooper S, you should notice a bit of difference though, nice engine the ST has and goes really well

They revised the engine and gear ratios to give a few extra bhp in late 2004.
Tested a revised 170bhp cabrio S at 0-100 in 19.6 seconds and the normal Cooper S saloon 170bhp did a bit quicker than that in EVO mag's test.
Thought the saloon 9-3s were around the 1400kg mark which is about 200kg more than the Cooper S? Or is yours a convertible which weighs in at a fair bit more?
Incidentally for info, I know you said yours was 150bhp but if you wanted to stick with Saab, the 185bhp Saab 9-3s were a bit quicker than a Cooper S.
Autocar recorded 0-100 in 19.1 seconds

Mines just a bog standard saloon, placcy wheel disks and a beige mungous interior.
Would definitely have another Saab but they dont handle well enough (or at all!) really, no point in going for the 185 bhp one as its basically the same thing as mine with a bit more boost which I can get from a chip (225 possible) but to be honest I dont think given its handling that it needs to go any faster, plus thats 500 quid better spent on an ST.
Cant find much re performance figures for mine, Autocar quote 8 seconds dead 0-60 and on the web I found one that said 0-100 in 20.2 and another at 24 seconds.

I bought a Cooper S last month.
Love it, so much fun!!
Also it has more toys than my M3 had, and all for 13k! Bargain!
It's not going to win any prizes for 0-100, but it's a good daily runner and the Harmon Kardon stereo is great, and it's great on the back country lanes.

Bought mine when they first came out along with another guy that had an M3.
Both sold within 4 weeks. Worst car I ever bought, most overhyped car ever.
Slow, traction control worked harder than a junior doctor and the ride on run flats was harder than Vinny Jones in the first minute of a football match

I really liked the Mini CS. Came close to swapping my Clio Cup for one but was ultimately put off by the £23k list price for my choice of spec and the poor brakes. Whilst I felt the quality offered by the Mini was worth a premium of the Clio it was a bit rich for my tastes. Saying that I can see why many folks would prefer it to the Clio as a more rounded car.
Still fancy getting one at some point - just got to be on the money.

The Mrs has a post 04 Cooper S and I think its a great little car if a little expensive. I enjoy taking it out for a little spirited ride every now and again . Keep trying to persuade her to get the Works conversion but she says shes happy with it .
