Default Ford ST TDCI ?

anyone got one?

looks just like a ST220 but gives 45mpg! 0-60 not brill tho LOL

As we looked at a 05 plate Seat LEON TDi saturday.. around £13k!!!!!!!!!!!! old shape. the new shape i didn't like! and the price seems stupid!

but then looked at the 05 plate 11k miles Ford ST TDCI at only £500 more!!!
its a lot more car for the money.. a better long term car too.
and when you think its well over £22k new! its a big saving buying an ex demo/nearly new!!!

Hi Phil,

I test drove the ST TDCI befoe I bought my Mondeo Ghia.

Would I have one rather than a Leon? Yes without a doubt.
The ST is a lot of car for the money and that engine with 300lbft is awesome.
The ST gets all the toys as well, climate, cruise, heated front screen, power fold mirrors, puddle lighting, 6 speed box, in dash Sony autochanger, auto wipers, auto lighting, auto dimming rear view mirror etc. etc.

And it's far far better to drive than the Leon.

sent you an email on you neoquip addy.

Cheers
Lee

Best place for the old ST200 would be the private ads in the clasifieds, auto trader etc.
If you were after an ST220 there are loads about in the supermarkets.

You could try a post over on www.fordmondeo.org

Looks like a nice car. Saw one on the motorway today - very smart car. The only problem I can see is people shortening the name to STD

I had one for a few months, nice car with good handling and a resonable performance. I got one brand new in performance blue for just over £16k from one of the internet brokers (they kept the V5 for 3 months).

Lovely car - the diesel ST is actually a fraction faster 60 - 100 than the 3.0L petrol ST

Motorpoint always have them in stock for about 14k

Diablo, it was brand new - I collected it the day it was registered with about 8 miles on the clock. When I got the V5 I was the second keeper - this made no difference when I traded it in.

If that is your plan then i'd recommend using http://www.forddirect.co.uk.

You can search for a specific car and get it taken to your local dealership for a nominal deposit. If you don't like the car once you see/drive it then you get your deposit back.

I bought my current mundaneo this way and although the dealer was a PITA it was the car i was buying and not the dealer (who i haven't gone back to).

Hi Paul,

I've already got one it's Phil (salsa-king) who's thinking of buying one.

I've bought Ford Direct stuff before and they can sometimes compete with supermarkets but if you are buying a year old example you don't gain any more warranty going for a Ford Direct car.
This time round the £1000+ it would have cost me to go with a Ford Direct car just wasn't worth the extra comfort factor so I saved the money and bought the car from www.directcars.co.uk .

As ever every deal is different and sometimes Ford Direct can be a better option.

I've had a couple of cars fom Direct Cars and they have been great, I had a seat problem in the Mondeo which was not covered by years 2 & 3 of the Ford Warranty and Direct Cars sorted me a replacement out without issue. I also had the creaking steering when cold problem and a rumble from the aux belt idle pulley on tickover, both are Ford technical service bullitens. Direct Cars also own a Ford dealership so both these issues were sorted under warranty.

Cheers
Lee
