=(SUM) Skyline + M6 = Hot!!!
This evening whilst travelling home on the M6 southbound near Junc 7 a Nissan Skyline appeared in mirrors, he also appeared to be an a hurry.
I pulled over into the middle lane to let him pass, plenty of noise & to my amazement the exhaust from the rear silencer onwards was actually glowing, is this common of this type of car.
I've never seen a tail piece on a street car glow before, only on rally cars and the like.
Amazing to see, and he was absolutley killing it, including flame out's on shut off.....

No mate, this was defo glowing,
last time I saw the rear part of an exhaust glow was Wales back in 1996, watching the old group B super cars on the Lombard RAC rally thrashing along forest tracks at night.

What colour was this Skyline and what model.
It was black, nothing flash, the model I haven't a clue, it looked fairly old though.
Looked & sounded very impressive, came up behind me on the slip from the M5 link very commited around the final right hander leading up onto the M6.

What I saw was not bolt-on bull s~#t it was evidence of a car being thrashed for quite some time.
10/10 to him, an obviously powerfull skyline

[QUOTE=Gary C]Flamer kit ?
Can only think the tail pipe would glow if combustion was taking place in it.
No flammer kits in the old group B super cars....

naww, i meant on the skyline
I'm old enough to have followed the RAC in the 80's,
Watching an S4 slide 50 yards sideways 5 feet away at 80 mph with no crash barriers was fantastic.

Remember the Delta S4 ECV group S car ?
Pity group S never appeared, would have made group B seem tame.
Anyway, if it was no flamer, then was the whole exhaust glowing ?
I've had manifolds and downpipes glowing, but not all the way to the tip, there is too much cooling for that to happen on most front engined cars.
Group B car exhausts were so short, the 205 T-16 exhaust was so big and short you probably could have put your arm up it and touched the turbo !.

Could only see from the rear silencer back, which was glowing.
Typo 1996 silly me (1986)
It's no big deal, just thought I'de mention it on here.

Just like to add,
Having seen your reply 'which has obviously been edited' via my my e-mail thread posting notification, I'll end it there.
No need for that tone at all.......
