Audi A3Tdi sport
I have an oportunity to buy a March 2004 (04 reg) Audi A3 Tdi Sport with the DSG gearbox (current shape car) that has done 61k miles for £11500. Although i think this is a good price for the car, i can't help thinking that £11.5 is a lot to spend on a car that's covered 61kmiles. My mileage will be low maybe 8-9k a year so overall mileage shouldn't be a problem.. what's everyone's opinion? (I've known the car since new, it has a Audi FSH and is in good nick).

How does that price compare to one with say 30k?
Im guessing about 2-3k less, so probably makes a good buy if you'll be keeping it a few years and only adding 8-9k/year.
High mileage VAG diesel stuff still fetches very strong money because its common knowledge that they take high mileages well.

I work for there mother company VW and the engine's are well designed and like was said before they can take the mileage well. With reg. servicing and your low annual mileage im sure you'll bring the mileage back to the norm.
Just don't forget the cambelt history which should be due at 80k otherwise it'll be well as you know dear. Belt change approx £350 at a main dealer. I'm sure Mr backstreet will do it half the price but ensure genuine stuff is used..

Ive got a '04 2.0TDi Sport DSG, and it too has relatively high mileage (44000), and everything is as good as new, bar the little catch on the centre arm rest.
Seem to carry mileage well, and its a really top notch car that should hold its value.
The TDi DSG combo is perfect, you dont have that situation of running out of revs during an overtake manouver etc (can catch you out on a manual diesel as they have low rev limits), so its basically put it into D or S, plant your foot, and it hauls from 0 to 130 odd without you having to think about it.
I payed £15500 for mine a few months ago (though mines an S line with 18's, Symphony, Bose and a few other bits), so sounds a pretty decent deal for 11.5, especially as you know its history, and as you dont do massive mileage it should still be worth something when you come to sell it, unlike a number of similar cars.

Sounds like a good buy - just to thread hijack, how do the Audi engines fair (FASH) - 2.7 biturbo V6? feel free to PM to keep this thread on topic.
