Mercedes B Class-opinions
#2
We haven't seen many in the workshops yet, but I do know for sure that it is just a bigger A class, and these are having some teething problems, but like I say, I haven't seen anywhere near as many B-classes back in the workshop yet.

We looked at these briefly and for anything approaching a half decent spec, the C-class wagon makes much more sense.
It is grossly overpriced in comparison to the opposition - depends how important the badge is to you I suppose.
We went for a Mazda five - drives better, has more space/flexibility and a fraction of the price. I'd bet on it being more reliable too and we don't have to put up with the awful local dealer and the 4 week wait for a service.

They are a bit pricey for a well specced one, they start at £15k IIRC.
On the plus side, they are very big inside. As a six footer i can sit in comfort in the back while another six footer occupies the front.
The boot space is substantial as well and with the rear seats down there's even more (obviously i suppose )

As far as reliability is concerned i think it's a bit early yet but i can imagine they will be quite good as Mercs have really tried to sort out some of the poor quality issues of late.

Incidentally, and I realise it is a major jump in money, but the thing to have is either a C-class or E-class with the new V6 diesel engine. Both these cars are absolute peaches, and are now far enough in to there product life to have very few warranty concerns.
Hope this helps a little.
