BMW 545i
Hi there
Anyone driven one of these? Going to have a test drive today - new shape 53 plater for £23k with 32 thousand on the clock. Seems like a bargain!
Obviously will drink fuel but I'm no longer doing a commute to work (working from home/unemployed!) and it cant be much worse than the scooby was?
Main thing is security (after the way the scoob went) but I figure debadged no one will be able to tell the difference between that and a 520i (until the rumble from the V8).
So, am I being stupid or should I go for it? With trade in of my C270CDI should only cost me an extra 8k.
Cheers

Sounds like a bargain.
I had a loaner when mine was in for some work and the main things I noticed were that they feel (and are I believe) bigger than the previous 5 Series and the i-Drive is an absolute PITA.
Let us know how you get on!

They are awesome cars, i haven't come across a better balanced chassis in any car. A bit wasted on UK roads though but on a trip around Europe last year I kept up with a couple of Porsches from Munich to Cologne and it was as capable as they were through the autobahn corners (150mph +)
[Edit to add that the beauty is that this can all be done in extreme comfort and you can hold a normal conversation because it is refined and quiet]

OK. Just got back. What a quick car!! Doesn't feel scooby fast but when you look down at the speedo you're going very quickly and in a very short space of time. Must be quiet as the dealer didnt even flinch at my speeds on the motor way!!!
Didn't fancy it in the end for a couple of reasons:
No creature comforts - had hardly any extras (br wheels which dont bother me anwyway)
Didnt like the sport setup when i drove other ones but do now (seats, suspension and steering wheel are so much better)
My idea of the worth of my trade in and theirs was about 2k apart.
Oh well, back to the drawing board.
