Default Subaru engined beetle

Good morning gents, i have a Subaru turbo engine in my beetle, i know its a 1.8 turbo and originally of a 4WD car. The engine code is EA82, anyone know which Subaru model it would be out of i know its late 1980's and poss a 2dr coupe (?), also i need to tension the alternator belt but i can't see the conventional slider is there anything i need to know / special way of doing it

thanks in advance

Get in touch with Dopple ganger, a member on here.

He's done various projects with Beetles and seem to know his stuff.

may be wrong, but if its the late 80's, would that not be the early legacy engine???

Just narrowing it down a bit for you but that would mean that the 2 dr coupe would be out of it. (if im right)

No the EA82 was earlier than that, often used in light aircraft, completely different animal to the EJ series engines.
