sorry that nobody else has responded to you initial request...to answer your question I have to say there is no definitive answer......to put you in the picture, I have had 3 ur quattros....1 10valve and 2 20 valve versions and a my2000 impreza.....as for running costs it is difficult to say....you dont mention mileage, intended use etc......
for reliablility you would have to at least consider the 20v version against the impreza but against that you have to consider initial costs to buy...I've just sold mine (20v ur) for £10k plus...the equivalent subaru is £ssss less...........and you have to take into account the parts that audi no longer supply....so the choice is yours...BUT from a driving point of view I think there is only one winner here.......forget about depreciation if you get a good one and there will be a queue of people wanting to buy when you sell unlike a your subaru......take a look on some of the quattro sites...

Chanch,

How would you compare the handling between your better UrQ's and the Impreza? Do you think the UrQ was a safer handling car in difficult conditions?
Last, are you a handy driver-on limit, or are your comments more along the lines of general handling within limits. Thanks, Jeremy

Wink ......

Jeremy, I know where you are coming from here but it is difficult to say considering there is approx 10 difference in technology but there are articles available where these cars have been compared and the conclusions seem to suggest that there is not a lot in it....as for me, well my capabilities on the road were laughed at with both cars.......perhaps the quattro feels more surefooted of the two in difficult ie wet conditions....as for overall handling the subaru may have an edge...not too much though....

B9GLY...... as i said intially ask the same question on quattroforum.com. Some guys on there will be able to put you in the picture without pulling the wool over your eyes.....if you buy a bad one you could land yourslef in DEEP trouble......

Well for reliability they cant be beaten, my old mans got a 92 Audi 100 with 242,000mls on the clock and drives like the day he bought it. just replaced the original exhaust last year. its only a 2.0L 115bhp so cant comment on performance. if it had the power of my scoob then id have it.
