Default 545 vs 745i

How do they compare on ride quality, handling etc? Certainly a used 745i is a bit more affordable simply because of age, and I don't mind I-drive issues as I am nerd that way. How do they cope with run flats?

I am starting to quite like the looks of both, and even the 1 series in the flesh is not so bad looking. Or do I need new glasses?

I like the 5 and 7 series but think you need to get down your local specsavers if you like the 1 series but each to there own

I would rather have the 7 Series myself. Driven both, albeit not the same engines and the 7 is way more a comfy sofa, the 5 Series is a comfy chair.

On looks alone... 5 can look nice in the right colour and wheels, 7 looks like sh1te in any colour. I presume 5 will be better for deprec and running costs also

My dad has just bought a new 545 touring, after a 540, and another 540. So I guess you could say he is convinced they are good enough.

The 5 series certainly drives well, and the 540/540 have always had tweaked suspension so work nicely. But given the choice perhaps an M5 is the way to go.

I will try and get you a report on the 545!

Go the whole hog and get the M5. I've had mine for a few months now and love it.

Problem with the M5 is they have crappy brakes, even from slow speed you struggle to stop yourself running onto the grass.

Have you driven an M5 hard? That's not what i've found, I must not be driving hard enough.
