Just Driven The New 182 Trophy
Only had a quick 10 minute blat as the missus has one on loan for the day while her 172 is in for some new brakes.
While I was initially dissapointed with the interior (these seem to have got steadily worse since the Mark 1) the new suspension does seem to be as good as everyone says it is.
It felt instantly chuckable. The steering feedback is great without being skittish or giving you too much torquesteer and the handling is confidence inspiring. I was only in it for 10mins but already I felt comfortable enough to get it onto 3 wheels round tight corners. The grip is very good and very progressive and of course the brakes are sensational (particularly compared to my WRX - but then what isn't!).
Of course the driving postion is still a bit gay and the gearstick feels too far away but the new front seats are quite nice. The rear seats had a rather nasty fabric cover on them which is a long way off the quality alcantara seats from the mark 1. But you can't really complain considering the price and the work that has gone into the chassis (apparently the new suspension is quite expensive).
Overall, a lot of fun can be had in this car! And of course the missus really wants one now...

one of my mates is thinking of buying one so he asked me to come out with him and give my opinion...after switching off the traction control i thought it was brilliant, practical bounces round roundabouts and gives loads of feedback so you know exactly what the car is doing at all times.
Shame the young lad from the dealers sitting in the back wasn't quite so happy with me when we returned…he looked a little green around the gills
