BMW M3 3.2 EV0
As stated, but in cab form. I was looking at getting the wife one and wanted to know, if there was anything to know. I have seen a few and they seem like a lot of car for the money, especially with the hardtop.Apart from the vanos is there anything to look out for?

You will get 30 mpg easy on the motorway, its so good on fuel, even when driven hard.
I get 18mpg in a 5.0 V8 M5, the M3 is really good on fuel and 6th gear helps.

vanos can go at any mileage mate and it's no respector of condition either.
It just seems that some people are lucky and some aren't.
Speak to your local friendly bmw garage though and they should be able to check whether the vanos has been replaced and when - if it's within 2 years then it's still under their guarantee. They were doing goodwill payments towards fixing it for quite a while but not sure if that's still the case.
Rev the car while stationary and the bonnet up to 3,000 rpm and let the revs die down - if it sounds in any way like marbles rattling in a tin then either walk away or haggle REAL hard as it's probably on the way out. The thing is that they can sound quite rough and last for ages or sound good and go pop when you least expect it - that's why a lot of people will recommend you only get one with a warranty. Do bear in mind that one with a warranty will be quite a bit more than one without so look at a few if you can.
Give me a shout if you want to know anything else

You'd get a decent chunk of that off the car, and think of the rest a piece of mind

It all depends if BMW are still doing their goodwill payments, then like you say including labour and parts it will be just over a grand if they're not then it's closer to 2 biggies.
You'd certainly notice if it was way down on power so that's either hard bargaining time or find a better one - either way mate don't let it put you off as they are amazing cars for the cash
