Was interested to see how a 2L 16V engine in a Vauxhall performs with various mods ....

I've got a 2.0 16v redtop in my westie. Many people have these up to 240bhp, a few on 260 and 280 isn't unheard of. Obviously some uprated parts, cams etc. Mine produces 190bhp and that's the engine pretty much out the box, just with twin 45 webers. Spend a few hundred and up to 220.
So what you say? All the above is without turbochargers and relatively reliable AND the engines can be had for a few hundred quid in the 1st place. Turbo these engines, I'd expect 300bhp minimum else just tune the standard block up.
I know it's not exactly like with like as these engines are newer and have turbos bolted on out the box but it does show how far we haven't come Only joking of course

Bog standard 2l turbo in my brothers Astra SRI Turbo did exactly 200bhp on the rollers at well lane...
Start doing this whole phase 1,2,3 upgrade business and you'll be flying past 240 in no time as many had done on that day at well lane...

I like the dyno of the AMD map if you forget about out and out figures. its a nice flat torque curve with a nice bhp incline all the way to 6000rpm.
do agree about the excuses though, how come their car had heat soak and no elses did???
Also found it really funny that 2 out of the 3 standard cars got better results than the unmapped modified cars.
