Seriously considering a new car to go with a new job (I need a treat) - but can't face throwing £45K at a new one!
Anyone have an idea of reg I can get for £25-30K?

From a BMW main dealer I'd have guessed that your budget would get a 02 or 52 plate M3 SMG coupe with 20-30k on the clock.
Edited to add...
Just checked BMW.co.uk and £25k you are looking at a Y/51 reg and £30k a 02 plate.

Reading the messages on that forum, many of the users seems to loose big money on thier cars. YOu even get discounts now if you buy new. y plate, 40K, average spec, went for £20K.
I have a M3 evo, and dealer experience, vanos issues, which seems to be the same on the E46 model, means that I would never have another M3 again.
GO for Audi !!

Its amazing how cheap the older shape m3s are. Considering that these cars were more expensive than Imprezas in the first place, many i have seen have been very cheap indeed. Not point scoring Impreza vs bmw, but the m3s seem to loose much more % wise.

not sure about that mate.
40k for a new M3, even 3 years on they are a good 25k (60%).
The same depriciation on a 28k scoob would make them around 17k...which clearly they are not! I reckon I could get an 03 for that.
I am fan I have to admit, if I only wanted to own 1 car for every thing it would be near the top of my list.

£25K does seem to be enough to pay from what you guys are suggesting. Not bothered about 19" Wheels or SMG, or Sat Nav though!
