Avoid anything with the engine in the wrong place unless it's a GT2/3 etc. Rest of the Porsches I wouldn't wipe my bum on.

Why not just use your Scoob on track?

Some bell-end rang about mine last night. Told him I was asking £9'995 and he laughed.

After a minute or two of pointless conversation I invited him to be my guest and go buy a el-cheap-o 944 turbo, and wished him luck.

Porsche = Yawn!

Save a wedge and buy a proper track weapon unless you are one of the lucky few that can have the GT3. The only Porsche that's even raised my eyebrow. They are quick (if you've got a turbo) they just don't flick my switch. Maybe because I grew up around Ferrari's I don't know.

I think the "yawn" is a bit much.

On a track, Porsche's are THE best unless you get a radical type effort.

You complete tool!

What about the 964 RS and the 993 RS......forgot those did you? In fact people in the know (not you) think the GT3 is a little soft, hence they felt the need to make the more hardcore RS version.

So just what is a proper track weapon in your opinion? I would need one that could get me and my partner to the ring with luggage and keep me dry. Allow me to do 10-15 laps a day, and then get me home again.

....and it does not want to be a 4WD jap car with little feedback and driver involvement.

Any reason why you have posted on this thread?

Or is it just to show off you total and utter stupidity?

Tosser, spoken like someone who owns a chav hot hatch IMO....

For many Porsches are the ultimate and I respect that and those views. For me however they just don't stir any emotion at all. That doesn't make me wrong or right it just means my opinion is different. I'm not saying I'm any more right than the next person. I'm entitled to my opinion and was voicing it accordingly

Senior AP - My Uncles side of the family have had several Ferrari's. So what? I don't know loads about them and never have but they always stirred a feeling that nothing else seems to. I never professed to knowning lots about either car.

Slim boy fat sir you are a grade A plonker and by answering in the aggresive fashion that you did only underlines that. Wind your neck in as the only person sounding off like a chav is yourself! Yes I drive a hot hatch I make no secret of that. I have rebuilt it myself to do what I want it to. If I didn't have a mortgage and a wife maybe I would have the free cash to do something different.

So, is a Porsche not a "proper track weapon" ??

To be fair you have posted twice on this thread, and both times you have spouted bolloxs.

Avoid anything with the engine in the wrong place unless it's a GT2/3 etc. Rest of the Porsches I wouldn't wipe my bum on
As I have already said, Porsche have been making track prepared cars for years. 2.7 rs, 3.0 rs, 3.2 clubsport, 964 rs, 993 rs, 968 clubsport, and thats before we get on to the cars that you have heard of. Each one of the cars I have mentioned would run ring around most Imprezas.

Senior AP - To many people I'm sure a Porsche is the ultimate track car. They just don't excite me. Nothing to do with the cars. Maybe I should have worded my initial post better and for that I apologise.

davyboy - I have posted my opinion which I'm entitled to. The engine being in the wrong place was a joke!!!!! It was intended in a humorous context so please take it as such. I like the GT3 aesthetically it may be too soft for some of the hardcore who demand more but I personally find it pleasing on the eye.

Why is it that mention of 'Porsche' guarantees endless stupid remarks and ill-informed opinions?

This reminds me why I stopped dealing in the damned things. They certainly divide opinion dont they?

1. Porsches are sh*te
2. Porsches are fantastic, and lastly, probably the most annoying:
3. I own a Porsche and I now know everything about them

Fair enough. In terms of the quality, you can hammer tham and they do last well. Porsche and track go hand in hand - but if you simply don't like them, that is absolutely fair enough.

Martin; Im sure that many 'experts' will argue with me here but I will share my opinion with you. 968's are lovely cars but Porsche hardly made any, so theyre expensive; 944 S's were sh*te, al revs and no longevity. S2's had more torque but more lard. As youre on a tight budget Id say that we're looking for a 944. In that case than look for as old a car as you can; ideally a 1983 for the following reason; theyre the lightest; (no power steering; no powered sunroof, light seats) and the quickest, with very crisp running engine, definately livelier than later early dash cars. Make sure theres no rust and that the torque tube is quiet; Ive seen 15,000 mile S2's with a noisy transaxle so a small whine isnt an issue. The only thing that this car will need will be more brakes and suspension which all comes together in the M030 option, fitted to 944 Turbo SE's (Rose Silver cars) and 968 Sport / Club Sports. It was also available as an option on most 944s so its not too hard to find; any specialist will only sell the rotors, calipers and dampers all together if they know what theyre doing. The dampers will be painted yellow and the discs are huge, youll know it when you see it (renew the bushes whilst fitting this btw). On top of that a faster acting throttle pulley, a decent filter and a Turbo single box exhaust and youre away. Id also suggest Fuchs wheels as the quality is way better than BBS or anyone else; dont go for less than a 7" front though, 6"s dont work.

My original wording (on reading) actually sucked!

I'm typing whilst at work so am therefor rushing my posts. It was not my intention at any time to offend people and I shall read what I have typed in future before submitting.

I'm not personally offended tbh. I'm selling my 951. (see previous page).

I appreciate them as top motors - its just any Porsche I can afford, I simply don't want. Need 25k for what I want and I haven't got it and I don't want loans.

The way I look at it was if everybody liked the same cars we'd be in an awfully boring place.
