MG ZT 190+
My dad has just bought one, we picked it up today and I drove the last 50 or so miles from Hastings (to Manchester) and all I can say is that it is a lovely car, really nice package, usefully but not ridiculously quick, the ride and handling are superb, the build quality is much much better than I expected and it has loads of road prescence.
Its a year old, almost to the day, he paid 11 grand for it, the first owner paid nearly 21 grand this time last year, damn fine car but I can see why people avoid buying them new if they lose 10 grand in a year and 8,000 miles.
I can see why my dad wanted one though, it drives really well, is loaded with kit and it isnt a BMW, not to diss BM's as they are superb cars but they are a victim of their own success.
Anyone ever driven a ZT ?

Just out of interest...does it have a spare wheel?
Seriously, does it? I happened to have a nose round one at work and noticed it didn't have one...all it had was a can of "quick fix" instead
Reminded me of the days of the Maxi and Dunlop Denovo runflat tyres

Both the 75 and ZT are well built cars that do consistantly well in the surveys.
If MGR had a range of cars as good as the 75/ZT they wouldn't be struggling.
Depriciation is a problem if you buy new, I used to own a 2.5V6 75 which had a list price of £23270, I bought it 10 months old for £10995.
Cheers

Lee, my dads one was a year old, first owner lot 10 grand but my dad got a nearly new car.
Will have a look at the spare, suspect it will be as you say foam or a space saver, the rims ar 18's so finding space for a spare inside is getting more difficult these days.

My older brother got an MG ZT 190. He and his wife were both of the attitude that a car is just a car, and did not understand the nonsense about car presense and image - especially with my Impreza. But now they both understand especially when a chap approached my sis-in-law and said "nice car" - she did not know what to say!
They both enjoy driving the Impreza when I let them,

A spare or foam were options when we bought our ZT.
As you say, a car too good to be lumped in with the old rover dross.
They might not be that fast but I love the handling more than my Scoob.
WE still have our ZT, but the lease finishes next year and I don't like the look of the facelift - the first ZT had a very "British" style that has disappeared now.

A bit petty to complain about it, just I cannot think of any other car - excepting specialist stuff or prestige sports cars that offers no spare.
