Mitsubishi Pajero Import

Mitsubishi Pajero Import
I am looking for a car for the wife at the moment and have pretty much decided on a Mitsubishi Pajero LWB. Should be good for the kids and family outings as my scooby is not the most practical of cars with a 3yr old and a baby.
Wondered if anybody had any thoughts or experiences with owning them.
I have been looking at the 2.8TD Exceed models which come fully loaded with all the toys.
Also any people who can recommend any decent dealers. I live nr. leicester, although distance is not a problem for the right car.

I bought my one direct from the docks , saved a lot of money , just get it either SVA'd or mot'd if it's over 10 years old

I have driven a couple of them and they dont seem any real different to most other decent 4x4's
You get a good spec on the imports which is better than the uk equivilant. I will also be using it off-road quite regularly as we have horses so seems a good choice.
Anybody got any views on reliability and servicing. the main reason for choosing the pajero is that most reviews say they are very reliable motors; unlike land rovers etc.

I have had a SWB one for 18 months, other than check the oil and water I have neglected it re. other maintenance. It sailed through MOT without any problem
They are easy to drive but a bastid to park if you have the spare wheel on the rear door.
Main gripe I have is that it drinks diesel like it's dehydrated.

Redkop, you can get parking sensor kits for well under 200 quid. When set up correctly, they work really well. Mine is set up badly, but that just means it beeps when it shouldn't (extra safety) - it certainly works when I'm about to back into something. However, they're not easily compatible with towbars...
