World Premiere at the Geneva Motor Show 2004

The Maybach – regardless of whether in version 57 or 62 – represents the pinnacle of modern automotive engineering. Refining such a luxury sedan is very special and therefore BRABUS uses only its very best engineers, technicians, designers and upholsterers to work on this project.

BRABUS adds even more new, exclusive highlights to the interior of the luxury sedan. The interior designers from BRABUS created an interior crafted from the finest leather and Alcantara, further enhanced by color-contrasted decorative seams. More than 1.2 kilometers of the finest thread are used in the waffle-design leather upholstery of the driveshaft tunnel. It is combined with custom-tailored BRABUS floor mats made from the finest lambskin.

The BRABUS developers further designed additional interesting features for the standard entertainment system of the Maybach. The 16:9 color monitors of the BRABUS equipment are integrated into the back of the front seatbacks and measure 15.2 inches (production: 9 inches).

At the push of a button the Maybach is transformed into a luxurious office on wheels: The monitors serve as computer screens for a computer custom-developed for use in a car. It features an 80 Gigabyte hard drive and is connected to the Internet at up to 1.5 times the speed of ISDN using a W-LAN and a fourplex GPRS router. For comfortable operation the system features a handy wireless keyboard and a wireless optical gyro mouse.

A USB 2.0 port harmoniously integrated into the center console allows connecting peripherals such as printers or digital cameras.

To stay online even outside the car the BRABUS communication specialists integrated an IBM X-series notebook into an electrically operated drawer in the trunk. The notebook is also connected via W-LAN to the car's computer network.

An additional 6-disc DVD changer rounds out the BRABUS interior for the Maybach.

Externally a Maybach refined by BRABUS can be distinguished by its custom-tailored BRABUS Monoblock VI light-alloy wheels with 21-inch diameter. The fully polished multi- piece wheels with six double spokes fill out the wheel houses of the Maybach perfectly. The rims come in size 9.5Jx21 on the front axle and in size 11Jx21 in the rear axle. Dunlop contributes high-performance tires in size 285/40 R 21 on the front axle and in size 325/35 R 21 in the rear.

The BRABUS air suspension unit lowers the ride height of the Maybach by about 15 millimeters without compromising its unique ride comfort.

BRABUS further refines the elegant lines of the Maybach with two auxiliary headlights integrated stylishly into the production front apron using two precise-fitting inserts. The auxiliary headlights function as daytime running lights.

Its 550-hp / 405-kW twelve-cylinder bi-turbo engine makes the Maybach a powerful car ex factory. BRABUS makes the sedan even more superior with the BRABUS SV12 bi-turbo increased-displacement engine using the tried and proven method of increasing displacement, in this case from standard 5.5 to 6.3 liters.

To facilitate the increase in displacement BRABUS fits the engine with a special crankshaft with longer stroke, precision-balanced piston rods and larger pistons. In addition the bore is increased and the cylinder heads are re-machined. Also part of the conversion are custom camshafts, newly programmed engine electronics and an exhaust system with metal catalysts, and dual oval-shaped exhaust tips.

After the conversion the twelve-cylinder bi-turbo engine delivers a maximum power output of 640 hp / 471 kW at 5,100 rpm and a gigantic peak torque of 1,026 Nm, available from 1,750 rpm.

Performance of the luxury sedan benefits accordingly: With BRABUS SV 12 engine the Maybach 57 accelerates bin just 4.9 seconds from 0 – 100 km/h. Top speed is an electronically limited 300 km/h. BRABUS exclusively uses ARAL high-performance lubricants in engine, automatic transmission and rear-axle differential.

I think this car will be one of those you read about in "Supercars" the book you will buy in 20 years time, including the words "most expensive saloon", "executive chariot" and "one step too far" lol

Probably £300000 + built for the sort of person with more money than your average.

Saw a Maybach 62 in Piazza Navona in Rome last November. It was about 11-30pm and I swear to God the entire square stopped to see who was in it. Some young girl got out and stepped into a nightclub.

Whatever your feelings on its looks, its got presence!

***** - if you had bucketloads of cash and needed to be driven around, there's not much better ways to do it than in the back of a Maybach. Given that many have darkened windows, I'm not sure how they're showing off as no-one knows who's in them.

Personally I'd go for the Phantom but I'm a bit short on funds this month lol
