Cool New 911 Launch

Went to the launch of the new 911 last night in Nottingham. The car is, at first glance, just like the old one to the untrained eye but close up it has quite a few nice changes, inside and out. Most obvious are the headlights. The Carrera S was very nice. Apparantly there's been quite a high number of people place orders in that particular dealership. They gave a speech etc and champagne was on tap. Its been ran around the Ring at 7.59 (Carrera S) which apparantly is faster than old 911 and not far off the Turbo according to the bloke talking. Carrera is about £65,000 and Carrera S is about £72,000, 3.6 flat 6 and 3.8 flat 6 respectively.

I went to a 997 launch whilst I was in the States last month too (my Dad has a 996 C4 cab out there so we got an invite). Looks even nicer "in the metal", especially the S. Next to a 996 you can really appreciate the wider hips and nicer lights. The interior has too many buttons but is a big improvement, quality-wise. I even like the (optional) stopwatch thingie but I am a geek like that. Just wish I had £60K or so to buy one!

I agree the 997 looks better in the flesh but not too different from the 996.
I will hope to replace the 996 with one in a few yrs when the later revisions including Aerokit etc get released.

I saw a couple of them out on the road about a month ago, I think they look great, can't wait until I can get one as a company car.

I just dont know how Porsche got it so wrong with those 19" wheels they look overly fussy and quite frankly spoil the look of a very nice car.

I'd certainly agree with you about the wheels, but I'm sure there are other options. J

For those of you who know Curtis at Powerstation, well, he put his order in for a black Carrera S at the weekend plus several choice options. Due for delivery in March 05.

Flash git, he is only a mechanic

Your not wrong .

Got my order in early and take delivery of new Boxster S around beginning of May, given a build date of second week in April.
