Renault Rant!!!
My missus has had a 1.2 Clio from new, we noticed a clunking noise from the front around the 12 month mark, nothing major just a dull clunk every now & then ...Every time it went in for a service we mentioned it, the Renault dealer 'tried' to fix it (new suspension bush & steering column bush) but it always returned within 24hrs ...guess what, now the car is just out of warrenty & had its first MOT ...failed on power steering rack ...cost to replace ...£800!!! ...do you think the dealer is interested? ...are they ****!!!

Do they warrantee the parts they fit?
e.g. they fit parts the day before the car warrantee runs out. Next day, the parts fail, there would be some come back I think. (?)

My last interaction with a Renault dealer went something like this:
It needs XYZ, and ABC isn't right and oh somatorother else.
So basically I've paid you over £250 quid to tell me what I already know. Great. But all this is under warranty, yes?
Yes, but it's a big job so we haven't done it.
Muppets.
Of course the above is paraphasing the exact conversation but you get the idea
Thankfully a few thousand later the car was sold and I was in a Scoob. Here's hoping the experience is better (so far so good on booking in which Renault struggled on).

why didn't you get it MOT'd before the 3 years were up ?
Your lucky that was spotted before it went wrong, there could have been a nasty accident. Trading standards job I think.

I think the first thing to do would be to contact Renault UK head office and explain the problems you have had with the dealer and the fact that you pointed out the noise to the dealer every time they had the car in yet the dealer was not able to fix it, then give them to chance to put the problem right before contacting trading standards/watchdog/motoring press etc.
If the dealer had any common sense they could put a warranty claim through for a vehicle under 3 years old and then fit the part to your car instead, happened quite a bit when I worked at a Toyota/Lexus franchise.
Just my thoughts.

Maxim,
Yes!
Remember, it's possible for a year old car to fail an MoT. I once knew of a seriously picky owner who got the RAC to do a check on his new car before taking delivery!!
Previously had a nasty experience so once bitten, twice wossname....
On delivery, the coolant expansion bottle on my new ZS was FILLED UP TO THE BRIM - that is NO room for expansion!!! With hot engine coolant expansion, that could lead to all sorts of problems from paint damage or even head gasket damage. I syphoned some off to correct level. 10,000 miles later, not moved a millimetre...

Renault cars are built they are thrown together. I was at Buntingthorpe proving ground at the weekend, reno did a test/safety day. Some of the new reno's are shocking screw heads show on the dash board, sunroof rattleing and thats on a new car, whats it going to be like 3 years down the road?

Guys, the warrenty has expired due to mileage (60K) not age ...fault was reported at 48K car now at 64K ...& the dealer is still not budging, time for letters to Renault UK, Trading Standards & Watchdog, Autocar etc etc ...I think the lesson learned here is dont take your car to a garage/dealer that sells/repairs/services & MOT's as there is obviously a conflict of interests!!! ...& ill be pointing this out in the flyers ill be handing out at the weekend!
