In the volvo estate - lol
I was quite impresed bearing in mind the weight and it is a FWD auto, no traction LSD etc -
How does that compare to a sport ????
Raced a 350Z - http://www.chesh.co.uk/santapodvids.htm - vid

The question you should ask is "how does that compare to a WRX". I'd say "very well indeed" !!!

My friend has a REVO'd 850R manual and its a lot quicker than my mildly modified Impreza(remap, zorst) once you get to 80mph or so.
Upto then it just seems to spend more energy shredding it's tyres than moving forward- new set every 6K miles or so.
Should I mention the "twisties" as well? (or will that provoke general derision?)
An awesome way to move furniture fast- 850R

Well the map on my Volvo is a RICA - produces 305 bhp with the chip and panel filter - according to my speedo i can do 0-120 in less than 20 seconds, the T5 is ideal for high speed pursuits, with excellent midrange and great top end (150 from most standard)
No matter what you do to the car, there is a limit to how quick you can go into a bend, however for my back lane thrashes i choose to piolet the M3, as for the 200 mile journeys - volvo it is - a nice choice of cars depending on ur mood -
I think this car is a sub 13 sec 1/4 - check it out anyway, see what happens when you try to make a FWD car too fast

power is nothing without control and you need ALOT of control in a FWD motor, when u see a 1.4 renault 5 that weighs 700kgs go up santa pod and pull numerous 12.1 SQM then you really know youve seen something special

Errrrr it's a hidious looking Volvo estate
Didnt they do a 4WD Volvo estate ??? R version or something ??? bet thats a cracking car tuned to 300hp.....
I suffer even more traction problems than you in my tweaked Cooper S, I can get a 96 mph trap speed all day long at the pod but as yet never got under 15 secs...an LSD might sort it but worried about effecting the steering feel......

Well thanks for that remark, i won't start on the your (slow) mini -
They do a R version of the 850 (FWD) a R version of the 70's series (FWD or AWD) and the new one is AWD only, and they have quite a weak drive train on them and aren't that good tuned up, and there is a thing about tyre wear, which mean you have to have no more than 1mm difference in wear between front and back tyres -
So really the FWD ones are the only one's to have, and the current 70R is 300 bhp out of the factory but isn't that quick - i am told it is very grippy though so that is a bonus - £35k + ????? I don't think you would que up to buy one - maybe in 5 years when they are £8k or so

I've mananged a 14.90 in my car with breathing mods on only my second ever run up the strip. Terminal was only 90 mph as well, must be that much easier to lanch a n/a car I guess.

There were about 10 Volvo's about on Sunday most of which (not me) stayed in the IBIS on sat -
As for getting a Clio to do a 14.9 - that is very impressive - turbo FWD cars are not easy to launch for the obvious reason but a 14.5 is the best that can be achieved from a turbo 850 auto volvo with my mods !

I nearly bought an ex Police Volvo estate of Ebay, white and complete with stickers and aerials, would be a great motorway car
