Jaguar X-Type Estate
Why oh why do they not do a diesel 4x4 version?
In the market for a new mile-muncher maybe & want AWD/4WD due to where I live. Choices are A4/A6 Quattro, Legacy or X-Type. BUT neither Legacy or X-Type is available in diesel
The A4/A6 TDi has NO competition & there are just so many of them! If Jag did the diesel then it'd clean up - much better looking car too.
Bah!

Don't go for an A4, they are so small, had a test drive in an avant last week and couldnt get over the room in the front, the X-Type is a much better car too, but I'm swaying toward a Touareg for when our baby arrives!

My old man went through all this when he had to get a new everyday car.
Ended up with a BMW 325 touring auto with all the extras. 28.8mpg average round town, which is rather shocking considering what it replaced - a Rover 216SLi Auto which did 28.1mpg!!
Jaguar had a huge waiting list for the estate, Audi's were pricey for the high spec versions (worse than BMW). The only alternate was the Lexus Sportcross, but they didn't do the 2.0 in an auto (only 3.0 - a bit too much) - no diesel either.
Beamers may be the blandest of the bunch, but it certainly does the job, and I just can't get over the huge distance/time between services.
Do you really need 4wd? It may open up your options slightly.

Volvo V70 D5 AWD is another choice.....
The D5 engine is not too bad apparently.....
...or of course the XC70 D5 AWD if you prefer the Audi Allroad/Legacy Outback look....
