VIDEO - Nurburgring 9 mins 4 secs in 205 gti
OK so here it is ...... My 9 minute 4 second lap of the Nurburgring in my 205 GTi.
I have done laps of around 8.55 secs but this one is 9 mins 4 seconds including an off a third off the way through.
I dont think in its current form the pug will go anything more than maybe 5 or 10 seconds quicker.
I'm pretty pleased with the lap times considering the car has only 140 BHP. It also seems to like passing serious 4 wheel drive and rear wheel drive machinary
Anyway here is the vid. Its 45 odd megs so broadband only i would think.

Picture quality is pretty good, what camera are you using? Have you thought about investing in a bullet cam? Alot smaller so you should be able to conceal it better with out having the obstruction of the seat.

I can lap faster than Gary, but at 0810 after a night on the beer, I wasn't really in the mood to be doing sub 9 min laps - even in my car it does take a little effort! I thought we were out for some nice clear laps prior to breakfast.
It is interesting to see where a car weighing 500kg's less makes time up though.
How about posting the in car cam lap?

Strange camera angle, made me feel kinda queasy I think you're doing yourself a diservice. From that vid, I'd say you could easily go another 5 - 10 seconds faster without getting too Banzai (more if you put R tyres on it like you were talking about).
Just a little more practise and eek it out bit by bit without trying too hard and before you know it, you'll be faster and smoother and wonder where the time came from!
Matt

I think your probably right Matt ... I knocked a good 15 - 20 seconds off just by having a passenger lap with Karl then following him round for a lap. There is still more to come, not alot but a bit im sure ...

It's easy to drive fast in a 205 though isn't it? They do pretty much everything for you. don't require much skill to go that fast etc.
Ooh hang on, think I'm getting confused with something else

Well they can't need too much skill - I used to have a Scoob, then a 1.9 gti and didn't kill myself - I remember thinking when I was driving the pug "this is so easy and unchallenging to drive fast"
Hmm, maybe I'm getting confused again
