Post Help needed in sourcing a Pug 106 Rallye

I'm trying to find myself a straight, clean and fairly standard (doesn't everyone want that when looking?) Peugeot 106 Rallye.

Must be a 1.3 and NOT the later 1.6.
Must have the original steel rims.
Ideally it should be white... and NOT have a sunroof.

If I get a choice, I'll grab one with less than 100K miles, but I'm not too worried...

I've already gone through all the local papers, the Autotrader website, etc... and not having much luck so far...

Willing to pay up to about £2700 (depending on the spec, history, etc).

Any help greatly appreciated.

G

Not my car but just saw this on http://www.britishrally.com/forum2/f...?TID=5406&PN=1

"Completely standard car apart from Peugeot Alloy wheels. White in colour, L reg, Immobiliser, my work transport for the past 14 months, very reliable little car, 1300cc, low tax & good on fuel. Exhaust back box recently replaced, drive shaft assys replaced (CV joints). Regularly serviced by myself.

The few small points are that it has a little rattle on the engine that has been on it since i bought it (not tappets) which has no effect on the way the car drives, and has not got worse over time. There is a slight scuff on the drivers side bumber and front wheel arch cover (could be easlily repaired) and the drivers seat has been repaired.

I am selling it for £1350.00 ono as the mileage is steadily climbing (currently 99.000)on my 40 mile round trip to work.

Would make a good run around or basis for rally car.

PM me for any more details. Can send Pictures."

Know the alloys are fitted but sure youd be able to source some original wheels with the savings..

Paul..

Planning on a few sprints are we?

I have a 1.3 rallye, with only 64k miles on the clock, full exhaust, Skip Brown suspension conversion, quick shift etc. It is my sprint car and it is a great car for the job, so far 3 outings and 3 top 3 finishes 3 trophees

I was lucky, mine found me via a wanted add, but its a very in demand car due to the fact it is cheapish and a VERY competitive car in its class - evo mag also gave it 5 stars recently. Not impossible to find, but as the years pass good ones become more scarce. Mine will never be sold! its a classic.

Heres mine in action in my dads hands

Cheers for the feedback guys... I'll try and drop a message to the advert on the British Rally Forum.

I've got a VeeDub Polo at the moment, but want something thatis:

A. Fun to drive
B. Cheap to insure (all things are relative mind...)
C. I can tinker with it...

...but remain practical as an everyday driver.

D. Won't put my licence into melt-down.

As enthusiatic owner of Pug 106 Rallye... what should I be looking out for?

What items tend to fail?
Areas of rust?
Expensive parts to replace?
Availability of parts?
Common upgrades/mods?

Any advice greatly appreciated...

Not sure

heads can go/leak
rust doesnt seem to be an issue
all pretty cheap to replace / service even reasonable supply of second hand stuff
exhausts most popular mod, can do induction, manifold, cams etc also suspension and quickshift popular

best of check 106rallye.co.uk
