*WARNING* Possible "moist" thread alert... :)
blimey.
I just watched Top Gear, and it has only cemented what I thought (and what EVO have told us all for a while now).. that Aston DB9 is phenomenal *drool* What an amazing 'event it appeared to be with an almost silly amount of character.. 470 bhp 420lb/ft too !!!!
Lust is not the word..
I'd damn near kill to get the car..
That run to France looked very very 'interesting' - did anyone else notice the very low speed shots of the speedo/tacho??? : D
110kmh... ooooh
I suppose the lawyers wouldnt have beent too pleased to show Clarkson red lining it in 6th
I cant wait to see what the AMV8 is going to be like...
/time to save those pennies
if you're listening- please Jim- fix it for me to win the lottery

thats a great bonus too
Im trying to slowly coerce my immediate boss into selling his F355 (which incidentally he owns ONLY because he thinks it is "the most beautiful car ever made" - i dont agree) and going for an AM hopefully he saw TG tonight and will now get shot of that bloody posing mobile that he only drives @ 5Krpm and get a proper car
..might also try the MD "...To help further project our success as a company, I have a great idea for a new company car scheme... "
my uncle used to work @ the Newport pagnell AM factory as a fitter..
that was it. I was hooked. And i was 9

I love that car.........Had the pleasure of a trip round Aston Martin a few years back when they had an open day and I won a ride in a V8 Volente, the test driver took us up and down the A422 I thought it was going to take off, bloody brilliant ride, and that engine note oh how sweet that is

Mobile phones being an explosion risk at petrol stations is bollox.
The real reason they ask you not to use them is that they interfere with electronic equipment when in use. Modern pumps are electroni,c meaning that there is a small chance that your phone can upset the pumps calculation of how much you owe

PS: As of yet, Stasi Chief Blunkett does not have the power to imprison you without trial for using a mobile phone whilst driving when you aren't actually in the UK

In fact, keep it in your pocket and get a mate to call you whilst filling up, then you can tell him whether it was the first or second ring that set your nadgers on fire

FYI Petrol is not explosive, it is flammable, and for an explosion to occur, you need quite a high vapour density in a confined (preferably pressurised) space, coupled with quite a large spark. None of these circumstances occur on an open forecourt with a mobile phone
PS: I bet you believe that a car blows up if you shoot it's fuel tank with a pistol too

I actually work in a petrol station!!! everyone has there own reason why the think you aren't allowed to use a mobile, and probably a lot of reasons why, but, if you work in a station, like me, think a more likely reason is that the station i work in isnt the biggest ever, and sometimes you can get people in there that are a bit selfish towards other people wanting to use the pump behind them, ie not moving about 4 feet forward to let someone else use the pump behind them Or one of the more annoying things is we have just had a cash machine installed, and people fill up, then go and use the machine put there pin number in... find out how much they have... withdraw money... get a recipt... then come in and pay, by this time the till is already flashing up that this person hasnt payed yet, then come and pay, it takes AGES! especally when you have other things to do, or are waiting to close, THEN you get a long queue people waiting behind and if you were also on a phone at the same time then would take even longer, and would be awkward to talk to someone and the cashier at the same time, also like the reason why phones were banned from use while driving people will get distracted and end up putting a lot more petrol in than the inteded and then probably complain about it.
You dont see people go into a clothes shop and try on clothes while trying to talk on a mobile phone, so why should petrol stations be any diffrent!!

I've seen a static charge ignite petrol fumes but not a mobile, doesn't mean it wont tho. Personally I'd rather not test out the theory and I always leave the phone in the car!
Just like I won't be shooting my fuel tank to prove that one out Works in the movies tho....

Goto the AM website, there are some great shots on there. Incidently regarding Clarkson and the mobile - I think you'll find it was hands free with bluetooth, so not guilty!

You can then try the various LPG companies such as Calor and get them to explain the fire triangle to you - ingition source (mobile phone) - combustible material (LPG/petrol) - air (2-10% concentration for LPG, I think its slightly wider for petrol) and then ask them why mobiles are banned at all filling plants.
As for your suggestion that the vapour density needs to be confined, this is incorrect provided that the air/fuel ratio is correct and its the energy of the ignition source, not the size of the spark. Therefore, as Esso can tell you and the poor bugger who had his crotch fried there is the possibility of flammable concentrations occurring whilst filling your car with petrol.
