Best 205GTi brake pads for track use
Off to Nurburgring again in three weeks and between now and then I would like to get a bit more stopping power. I think my old pads will be pretty shot after last weekend anyway.
What brake pads would you guys recommend and where from?? At the moment its just replacements for standard parts im after, maybe a whole new set up for the future, but not yet.

I use Ferodo Performance DS which are about £40 from www.motorsportworld.co.uk.
Only done about 50 miles on them, but they seem to work well once warmed up. I have these coupled with ATE powerdiscs from ECP.

I was wondering how long it would take for you to see this and reply
I will have a look on that site later and give them a buzz. Silly question but are they easy to fit on the pug?

Ferrodo DS2500 would make a fairly decent pad I should think as DW says.

Think i will get some new ones and take a spare driving home set with me ......cheers for suggesting that Davyboy ..... as it will be you thats out with the spanners with me

Got a set of DS2500 from Alyn at ASperformance recently (as previously discussed and fitted with a new pair of ATE power discs) and now that they are bedded in they are great. Good feel, instantly responsive (even from cold) although I've got braided hoses. Compared to my old knacked discs and green stuff, I've now got to re-adjust the stop light switch to be rather more sensative because unless going for it the brake lights don't come on... opps

Using Mintex 1166 in the front with 1155 in the rear. Cheapo tarox disks I bough off ebay. Mintex blue fluid. Never any probs. Excellent stopping power- perfect for heavy track use with the Mi16

Was trying to work out how to change them at the weekend. Which bolts do i undoe? The outside on the inside ones? Once that is done does the assy fall away from the disc and how do the pads come out? Also what about the piston, how do you get that back?
Any help would be appreciated from you clever 205 chaps .......a nice little how to list would be nice. Starting after the wheel is off of course, coz i can do that bit

LOL, I did exactly the same first time - wheels off, then scratched my head for an hour.
At the bottom of the caliper there are 2 bolts, with a rubber boot in between. Hold the bolt nearest to you with a spanner, then undo the bolt on the back of the caliper arm, and rotate it upwards.

ok mate once i have rotated it upwards what then? does the spring hold the pad in place? does it undo easy and what about the piston? Sorry im sounding thick but i dont want it in bits and me be able to put it back together again......
I assume its the bottom bolt you have shown and not the top version of that one also?

Just the bottom bolts, then swivel the caliper retainer upwards.
The pads then just pull out (in theory - they may need gentle persuasion).
You will need to push the piston in to put the new pads in place. Its quite hard - I used a big chisel to just push the piston in using leverage. I did slip though and take the skin off my arm
Its easiest to push it in whilst applying clockwise pressure as well.

OK mate thanks for your help much appreciated.....
I would imagine that taking the lid off of the brake fluid reservoir would release the pressure in the brake system and make it easier to move the piston...in theory anyway.
I assume the main caliper assy is held in place using the two inner bolts on the back. So i will leave those well alone and just undo the outer ones as you said
I will order me new pads up and give it a go...
Its nice to know there are a few other pug owners on here........
I have just finished making up a small vid of my fun in germany last week and put it too music. Im quite chuffed with it as its my first ever go at doing that sort of thing. Just gotta work out how to host it then i will post it up.
