Just seen a Hyundia Coupe tonight, 2.7litre V6 - in Silver - look a $million!!
And they are £18k top whack before discount!
Bargain or what? 5 Year warranty thrown in for good measure! Can you afford NOT to?

Hyundai you old man
Yup, i'll agree on the looks
Dunno how much they're gonna last on the UK roads though, seen 3 year old coupes (older shape) with rust on the rear arches.

Now, I challenge anyone to say thats not one beautiful car and it costs pennies!
Even if you get the 2.7Litre its quite slow
Pete
Edited to add:- Is it a Hatchback, like the old Calibra, does anyone know?

Got to think about everything!
What should I do with the MX5? Keep it, or keep the Scoobie?
Nothing has made me feel the way my old Calibra did ...... this could be Calibra MK2?? BUT, with more reliability!?

I think the Scooby will have to be the one to go, its a good car - but, alas, just too fequent a visitor at the petrol pumps!
Now, 2.7 Litre or the 2.0 Litre, the 2Litre is much more economical and not too much slower!
Pete
AND only £16k!! £16k for a car that looks like THAT!
Bed now!!

Hyundai's four pot ain't a bad engine but it ain't anything special either. the V6 would probably still be better on petrol than the scoob. It depends on what you really want to do with the car but as you said, the scoob would have to go, so i would go for the spicier version of the car(2.7)

Chap at work has the 2.0L one and it's a good car although IMO you can see/feel why it costs only £16k when compared to the Celica. As an overal package though it's hard to beat as it looks good and the equipment list is excellent. Performance wise though it's not as quick as it's looks suggest so is slightly dissapointing.
Personally I'd go for the Celica which although more expensive is probably a better drivers car. The 1.8vvt engine is a cracker IMO.

Agree with PaulR on resale value. Therefore don't buy new, instead get one around a year old and it will have dropped a lot.
Hyundai 5 year warranty is fantastic. How many other car makers have that much faith in their products? My wife's Hyundai was fantastically reliable apart from a minor problem with the central locking after three years. The garage replaced the entire system under warranty with no quibbling at all. Service from dealers was outstanding. Would definately get another Hyundai.

I would question the re-sale issue on the Coupe .... take a look at the dealers forecourst and you will see them asking MORE than an equivalent age Impreza Turbo!! and thats froma lower price NEW!! so residuals seem better than the Impreza?

in fairness pete a 3 year old scoob is old shape so the residuals would be more surely, as people will want the latest model. have to agree with you(that must be a first) that they are great looking cars though a little slow espesially for a v6

Thanks Mike and Diablo my old friends
Mike, a 'Classic' Impreza is THE one everyone wants - so the residuals are higher than the next offering Subaru quickly disposed of cheaply!!
The FUGLY, sadly, is suffering extremely badly in the residual stakes - I mean, be sensible, the secondhand buying public are wiser than the new buyer - why buy one of the ugliest cars of all time, when a classic is now within easy reach?
I agree that for a V6 in a coupe its slow! But, god, they are sexy (like me!)

fair point pete but look at the %'s, a classic was £20k new and you go to a scooby dealer and a 4 year old scoob average miles is gonna be around £10-11.5k which is roughly half the value of new, could you say the same about a 4 year old hyundai? probably not.

Do a search on a W reg 2000 Hyundia Coupe and you will find the prices sitting at £9999 or thereabouts for the Evolution - which was, what? £16k new??
Hence, the Hyundia beats the Impreza in residual value!?
