Is it just a case of coil, plug leads, distributor cap either needing renewal or just getting damp.

Anything else i should look at?

I would start with above try using some WD40 or a moisture repellent
Clean battery terminals and inside of Dis cap check leads and cap for cracks etc too

What year Astra and if pre 1993, is it carby or injected?

Does the engine crank OK or is it slow? Is it really the damp or is it crap on dry, but cold mornings too?

Vindaloo.

As both posts say, likely to be electrical -- check the battery connections and engine earth strap have good connections too.

But could also be a small airleak, auto choke not working, injector enrichening not correct, etc etc.

Similar issues with my mums 1991 Cavalier, turned out to be a crack in the distributor cap.

Thumbs up

A filthy air filter will absorb more moisture these cold high humidity damp mornings making it difficult for the engine to breath. Renew if needed. Provided all other checks mentioned above have been made, should start OK. Use WD40 only as a temporary measure to get you going. It will not rectify the causes of poor starting.
