Superguard or not ?
#1
Hi All
Just in the process of buying a Golf match for my wife and have been offered superguard for £195
Seems to be a coating applied to all exterior paintwork, alloy wheels and (presumably a differenct product for) the interior. Supposed to last for 3 years.
Anybody had any good / bad experiences with this stuff ?
Cheers

Hi,
Got talked into this when I bought a new Clio a couple of years back. Complete waste of money - has made no difference to level of staining from leaves, bird sh*t etc. Wouldn't bother with it again.
Cheers,
Gareth

I must admit that I am sceptical about these treatments.
Remember that for £195 you could get a really top notch professional valet job done on it after a year or two.
The #1 thing you can do to keep your car looking good never go though a rotating brush car wash, EVER!

I have to agree with all that has been said (especially the car wash comment ). Normally I would've just dismissed this out of hand, but the bit that got me interested was being told that if a stain can't be removed from, for example a seat, then the seat is replaced ! Has anybody taken these guys up on this or is it just sales waffle ??
Not really bothered with the exterior stuff (already got some Zymol/Waz wizzard stuff to take care of that).

supaguard is a cheap version of the origional "Diamondbrite" which was used on mainly prestige cars.
the dealer where i worked used to buy it in bulk for £25 a kit which consisted of stage 1 (removes some stains and prepares surface), stage 2 (polish which bonds with stage 1), interior spray (same as scotchguard) and conserver (added to bucket of water to keep paint protection topped up).
The problem with buying this is the product is only as good as the person applying it, most valaters don't apply it properly (supposed to leave stage 1 to dry to haze before adding stage 2 - most peeps just put it straight on and buff it off straight away).

I would say a waste of money, had it on my clio 172. A good wax with zymol made it look much better and the water ran off much better.
Should of saved my money.

Just keep your car clean and you dont need 'Snake Oil', besides it probably gives you cancer anyway, and make sure you go for a poo before any long journey......
