Not quite sure what it does? Wheels don't look like they'll grip very well, and if it flies, how does it steer - looks scary to me!

I guess you steer by adjusting the power/thrust from each side but I'm not so sure I'd like to try it (unless it's only a few feet off the ground).

Complete bunch of ****, they've been saying this will fly for the last 20 years, and they've never got past the hollow shell shown in the picture.

A bit like the story of the Wektor (sp?) US Supercar. Nice idea of a vertical starting plane though.

Wink

They've done all this before, a car that carrys passengers and can fly. I believe they call it an aeroplane, very common at airports...

it travels off the ground about 7/8 feet at a couple of hundered miles an hour. They usually have tehm on lakes for quick lake journeys(ie add water skids..

Sorry no! It's supposed to fly like a vertikal take-off plane.

They have to keep it on a tether from a crane, for insurance purposes.

A friend of mine is a mechanical engineer, he constantly ridicules these air-car projects. Seems they're always seeking investors to "get in early" and providing just enough of a demonstration to entice more investors. Some have gotten off the ground, but none of them have actually gone anywhere.

Plus, you can imagine the problems of noise and flying debris, not to mention operator training and liability. And what happens if any debris gets sucked into one of those fans, causing a failure? There is no fallback safety system.

Even if it were technically feasible, it's unlikely it would ever be commercially feasible. And I can't see how introducing gas guzzling aero-cars is going to help the environment. Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) takes serious energy, that means lots of thrust and fuel bills to make a scooby look frugal So apart from technical and commercial problems, it would be environmentally unacceptable.

There will never be a VTOL aerocar in production. You heard it here first
