Civic Type R Colour and ICE??
#1
Going to order CTR but I can't decide which colour. I do like the black but scared it will be too hard to keep clean and will show up all little marks after time.
Does red look nice?? I quite like it too.
Other thing is need advice on the ICE cause the standard set up is crap! What is best way to improve it?
Cheers

Hello mate,
Silver is by far the fastest colour No to mention the easiest to keep clean and free from swirly scratches
ICE wise, you'll be wanting to remove the paper cr@p excuses for speakers. Then replace the headuint for something a bit better. You can use the Autloeads facia, its not perfect, but I like it:
A used Alpine fronts and a pair of Sony 6x9's in the rear shelf which will be removed when my Sub goes into the boot after Christmas. Got a Rockford Fosgate amp and a 1200w Sony sub ready to go in

Well, have to say that to begin with it was a total farce. The first one eventually arrived after about a 3 month production wait . . . pathetic colour match, bad fit and stress marks in the plastic.
The second batch, of which the pictured one is part of, were a much better colour match but the fit isn't perfect. Note the sag under the H/U and the slight gaps on the top corners.
But being that its the only one available, I prefer it to not having one at all. Many people have installed the H/U without it, but it doesn't look right to me.
I went through InCarDiscount who kept me up to date through the entire process and I'd recommend them

If I was to buy another CTR I would buy a silver one this time, (got a black 30AE) purely as I seem to spend too mch time keeping it clean. But it does look the best when clean.
The new grey seems a good compromise (sp?)
Ice wise, lose the standard HU and speakers as they are pants.
Removed the HU and replaced speakers within two hours of owning the car, replaced by a Sony mp3 HU and Infinity 605cs ref speakers. Have yet to replace the rear speakers.
Have a look at http://www.civictype-r.co.uk/phpBB2/index.php
loads of info here on ice and arguments on which colours is the fastest !!

I had a black one looks the nuts when clean but not when dirty and scratches up so easily. Got to agree with dj junk and say go for silver even though it does make it look girly

I say go for black, eaily the fastest colour
But seriously I think the black is more noticable as a Type-R on the roads, the silver seems to almost blend in with ALL the other silver cars on the road and goes fairly unnoticed compared to the black.....which may of course be a good thing for some people! All my opinion of course
I have to admit though, my mate is looking at buying one and everytime I see the different colours on the road I change my mind, I'm sure you will be well happy with whatever colour you choose!

Does nobody like the Red?
Would a decent couple of speakers in the parcel self improve things with the standard H/U or is the H/U just not up to the job?
I just found there was no depth or bass to the sound with the standard set up.

The rear channels on the head unit seem to be restricted, less powerful than the front channels. No point in putting different rear speakers without a new headunit IMO.

The red is the best IMO. It stands out and has a real nice finish to it.... When polished with tyre dressing looks awesome... Black is a pain to keep clean although looks lovely when polished. And the silver is horrid... very drab and also the hardest to colour match if a ding takes place...

I still think red looks good and stands out a little more than the silver. Which has been said above that it seems every other car on the road is silver.
Three colours are all the same price at moment cause they are doing metalic free.

Thats why I like it It blends in with every other car on the road . . . until the VTEC kicks in that is
So, the decision is yours. Depends whether you want to blend in or not.

I took a red one out for a test drive and think it looks the nads. Not into red cars though so went for the silver which is by far the most subtle looking and easiest to keep clean.
Silver is the fastest too, or at least that's what Englands finest think

Ummm . . .Yeah, rsarjantson, mentioned it at the top of the thread.
I guess it'll be like the grey on the middle on here ? :
Not seen an official grey pic of a Type-R

Now I really like this new Grey colour. It should be easier kept clean than Black. Is between the Grey and Red now.
Grey is ahead I think cause its the newer colour and makes it a little different from the other three.
What you all think?

GREY?!! May as well have it in 'OAP beige' ( if they were made in that colour)....
Black is defo the best AND fastest!!!!

Black is best if you are into cleaning every 5 minutes
Silver is easiest to not notice dirt/scratches etc
Red turns pink
Make your choice

I remember reading an article in one of the weeklys (AutoExpress I think) that said the Red is the least desirable on the CTR, and were actually fetching less money at auction so tradein prices were less. Black was most sought after.

Which leaves silver as a no-brainer if you don't want what everyone else is driving (black) or something that's worthless (red)
Actually the grey looks pretty cool IMHO. I did see the 04 sport though and that looks pretty cool too. Descisions, descisions

Grey looks like they forgot to give the second coat of paint and left it in primer.....
I also saw the article regards re sale values of red CTR's.
Blackest is bestest!
...and I don't mind cleaning.....
edited to say that on the CTR forum someone has been told by a dealer that grey cars are being delayed till spring 'cos of demand..
