Had my track day car on the rollers yesterday.

1.9GTi with a couple of small mods. Made 129BHP at 5600RPM with around 145Ib ft torque. Was pretty happy as the car is 13 years old.

The power curve was great, no curve at all infact dead straight up to 5600 revs then it went flat. Guy reckoned the car has a very good engine and is gonna play with it tomorrow to get another 12-20BHP for me for £60 .....bargain

Thats pretty darned good. I was told that the engine doesn't really make 130bhp as standard as they should.

What ya doing for £60 to get more poke ?

Car has a superchip and kent cam which helps.

He is going to play about with the dizzy apparently (stiffer springs etc???) He used to work for peugeot and says he has done it to many cars with excellent results everytime. As long as he can prove it on the RR and its reliable it sounds good to me.

Oh and before the pug boys come on and hijack the thread No i dont wanna stick an Mi16 engine in it.......

I can't go to an Mi16 engine as the motorsport regs don't allow it. Currently got 139bhp which isn't a whole lot, but going for Throttle Bodies this winter

My car details / motorsport web site.

I'm hoping to hill climb or sprint mine next seasonm as well as a few trips to the nurburgring. Thats the theory anyway.

I have seen your site before, will have a good look at it later though.

To be honest 139BHP + throttle bodies should give you more than enough power in a car which weighs about as much as a *** packet. Not sure it could handle a whole lot more and still be sensible?

Aiming for 200bhp in mine, currently 163bhp, but could handle more

Just need to get the engine running properly now, and get the stage 3 head sorted, and fix the collig fan, washer, rear beam, brakes etc

The joys of Pug ownership

Need more power !
Running a wild wild 310 duration cam with makes it very peaky, but the standard inlet manifold is limiting my power as I can't get the air in.

Hence Throttle bodies.... Any ideas on the gains on bodies ?

From what I've read Mark you should get about 175bhp from a standard 1.9 with TB's

All depends of course though on setup etc.

Which ones you going for?

Nobles Motorsport are getting the bodies and setting it up ~ so it WILL be right as they're spot on

I think they're going to be getting Jenvey's, but only the Jenvey 40's as they think we'll loose too much torque if we went to jenvey 45's.

Looking forward to getting it done. Should sound well

DW ~ yours an Mi 205 ?

Those throttle bodies are gonna cost you a few quid mate. Bet you dont get much change out of £800 fitted and set up?

With your hairy cam where does the power come in? and do you need to keep ya foot on the loud pedal to keep it ticking over? Thats the one thing I dont want, something you cant drive without 100% concentration

I would think £1500 would be more like it for that little lot

Mark, yes its an Mi, but needs work at the mo - stem seals or rings. Hopefully seals, then I can get a stage 3 head done.

TVR Gary,

Idle isn't a problem at all with the DTA ECU. Idles a treat at around 1200, mind you its somewhat lumpy at idle.

On the standard ECU it wouldn't idle at all under 2000 then it gets all hot and bothered if you had to wait at all with the engine running.

Throttle bodies ~ don't really expect any change from £1500
This includes to supply and fit Jenvey throttle bodies,Inlet manifold, Fuel rails and suitable injectors (vauxhall 16v).

Then map DTA ECU on their rollers. Not bad really !

It is hard work to drive with the lairy cam as you've got to really work hard to keep it on the boil, and this is with an Mi16 gearbox and a stupid 5.0 CW&P. If I drive it to events then I wear a set of OMP headsets as its far too buzzy and gives you a serious headache. I put up with looking like a pillock on the road. Short distances its OK, but after a while it all wears a little thin and you **REALLY** want to get out.....
oh and did I mention the heat. The exhaust is a bespoke (aka bodged) OMP Group A system with an extra back box to quieten it down. Problem being is heat soak through the floor

Not an ideal day to day car

165bhp from a 8v engine, 1.6 crank (slightly larger pistons), tb's, challenge manifold and all the usual stuff (vernier pulleys, etc). The car weighs 765kg too which lets me do a 1:23.5 round combe.

I'll post a pic if anyone knows where i could host one...
