All 4000 RS4's were avants and only 400 came to Britain.

Would you take your pride and joy to a Asda carpark to get the doors whacked????

No they aren't I'm afraid. RS2 and RS4 are both estate/avant versions. The RS6 is available as both saloon & estate.
S4/S6 are just less quick versions of the above, and are available as saloon and estates.

I thought they were all estates, but there was an RS4 badged saloon in my local Asdas car park the other day. It looked mean as anything, so I think it might have the punch to back up the looks.

I thought theyd be quicker, my car in standard form, Evo 6, does 60 in 4.4 secs...........with my mods, ecu etc..it must be round 4 at most.... I thought the RS6 thingy was meant to be quicker again.

The Evo 6 has a slight weight advantage!!! RS6 is a very heavy car, I think it weighs about 1800kg's .
I have seen a couple of RS4's and a RS6 at Oulton park and they were not very impressive, it was a very hot day but my M5 was a lot quicker!

Jeff,
A standard RS4 is not as powerful as a M5 and probably about the same weight! From my own experience I can say that a standard RS4 doesn't handle as well as a M5 especially on track!!
The RS6 was a bit of a suprise, but the driver could of been taking it easy as it looked very new...a lot of money to put into the railings at Outon park!!
My M5 never fails to surprise me with it's ability, but I sure would like a RS6 saloon to replace it.
Dom.
Has your S4 got standard suspension?

What does a M5 kick out now then ...over 385 BHP ?
It's well know that the M5 is a well balanced car but I would have expect a RS4 to be on a par around a track.
My S4 has standard suspension at the moment. Last year at Bedford it was only running 320 BHP and the M5 was only pulling maybe a car length per lap. Of course this is complete nonesense to compare cars on track unless it's the same expert driver, in the same conditions against the clock.

What was that Porsche engined 4wd big lump of a turbo Audi Avant car I drove for a week once about 6 - 7 years ago? Huge power and a weird but nice shade of blue...?
I ask as I'm starting to have a look at these souped up Audis now and am a bit confused!
Is their steering and brake feel OK these days - used to be so horribly over assisted back then. Does everything cost twice as much as the Scooby to fix?
Cheers

RS4 is 1600Kg - about 180 less than the M5. I love how poeple try to bring Audis down all the time. They are good cars - especially in RS4 form. Even if your are in a M5 you are going to recieve your butt on a plate from the lights and wouldn't have an advantage at higher speeds.

Evo mag:
------RS4 M5
0-60 4.8 4.9
0-100 12.1 11.5
BHP/ton 236 236
So 0.1s gain to 60 to the RS4, 60-100 0.7s gain to the M5.
Were they side by side tested in the same conditions on the same day, probably not, but I don't see an M5 having its butt given to it here.
If the Audi was 10s to 100 then it would qualify for such a statement.

That was the thing that stood out in my mind about that Porsche engine RS2 – the off the line launches were awesome. It is theoretically about the same BHP as my Scoob, but it just LAUNCHED off the line so much more dramatically.
[Was it a souped up Audi 80? Sorry my memory is so bad on it – was lucky enough to press test a lot of cars then ]

i remember a very old topgear when they were doing quarter miles in brighton with an RS2, they asked audi how to get the best out of it and answer was put revs to redline and sidestep clutch. can't remember the time but it pasted every escort cosworth there, they did launch amazingly.
