I've had 3 205Gti's in the past, a 1.6 & two 1.9's... excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is a Guttman 205. Thought they were just bits of bodykit ?

My 205's just fizzed, made my scooby seem like a wet, dull, fart.... so I sold it and bought another pug, GTi-6 this time though.

G.M. Design now that's a name from the past. I used to take my pug there years ago. Gynn Farmer at Castle Coombe used to be good at setting up Gtis on his rolling road I remember. I think he was who G.M. used to set em up. A Guttman was always a bit of an unobtainable dream for me back then. As I struggled to pay for my gleamy new Gti as it was.
Best wishes
Steve

Gutmann did a 16V conversion that was actually available through Peugeot dealerships. They only used the base engine, exhaust and inlet manifolds were designed by themselves and they used the 8V Jetronic loom and ECU (with the rev limiter removed).

The cars have Gutmann written on the inlet manifold and can also be reognized by having the battery in the boot.

AFAIK there were around 300 built.

Inlet should look like:

Though that bays been messed with - they weren't that untidy, more like:

They were 155/158bhp @ 6600rpm and 174/177nm torque and fitted with a cat engine or non cat respectively. 0-60 was around 7 secs but had been timed at 6.5, and 140mph

Not bad for an 80's hatch

Might have sent you guys down the wrong road i think.haha...

My Guttman is a dealer supplied car from the UK. The dealer only did 5 of them, all Sorrento Green. Spec consists of 1.9 GTi, then add full leather, Guttman alloys, Guttman rear spoiler, Guttman rear lights, Guttman (Koni adjustable suspension),Guttman grill, twin headlights, Guttman sports exhaust... Final price 13 years ago of £17,500 ....wow, HOW MUCH???.......Then add a superchip, induction kit and kent cam, a bit of security and a £500 radio cassette (yes that was what you got in 1990)......and you get my car.

All that for not alot of money, and I mean not alot.

Anyway pics going up in the gallery section, im sure they will dissapoint alot of you.....sorry guys.

Mods start in a few weeks when ive learned the good and bad points about the car.

Gary... Sounds great but chuck the K&N straight in the bin and refit an original induction system. Take my word for it.

Gary, are you going to be selling the interior from your new Pug?!

Ive recently bought myself a 205 1.9GTi Turbo Technics, however its been stripped out, and only has the 1/2 leather passenger seat and a new Cobra bucket for the driver. I'm planning on refitting the standard interior and getting rid of the Cobra bucket.

Let me know if you'd be interesting in selling your interior, or maybe doing a part-ex with the Cobra bucket.

Cheers
Pete
