I might be wrong, but I seem to recall the 330D manual being a hell of a lot better on economy terms than the 330D auto. I dont think the 330D auto works out to be that much better than the 330 petrol, so why bother?
Might be wrong though.

Urban Fuel economy for the 330d auto is about the same as the 318 manual(2 litre) petrol. But the diesel is very dependant on how its driven, foot to the floor etc.
The 330 petrol is a guzzler in comparison, manual or auto. Get the brochures, or check the website.
Bmw's test figures are fairly accurate...unlike subarus
(has anyone ever actually got 35mpg from a standard UK turbo??) Just knock off 2 mpg on the combined mpg figures and you'll get a better picture of the usual average mpg figure.

johnothan whats the pull like from the lights -is it instant or is there hesitancy? and does the gear box stay in the right gear to use that fat torque.whats the worst mpg you have had out of it [giving it some] has anyone chipped a bmw330d?-any better.
I have had a 330D SE auto for a couple of months now.
Stunning car - just wafts along.
Economy is OK for a car, take today for example, drove from Staines, down M4 and over to Euston. Car did 33mpg average. If I go to my Reading office then looking at 38 - 39 mpg.
Any more questions???
