I know it's not big & I know it's not funny, But on exiting a roundabout in my Scoob , on a very quiet stretch of dual carraigeway known in these parts as the Manorway in Stanford , I saw a Merc SL55 AMG sat right up my backside , intrigued to see how fast these are, I floored it & wasn't surprised to see him go by , but was surprised by the fact that he went by like I was going backwards !!!!!! It sounded awesome aswell , my only saving grace was that it wasn't being driven by Clarkson!!!! Shame the road was straight though as I would have definately had him on the twisties!!!!! That's a joke I just don't know how to put up the little faces to show sarcasm / smiles etc. Wicked car shame it costs more than my house .

what you say might be right for an SLK but an SL55 AMG is an altogether different beast

Yep, had the same happen to me on the motorway, floored it @ around 60mph, AMG was gone before I was making +ve boost (not really but it were reet quick)

Ive kept up with a lambo diablo before in my WRX around the roads
(dont think i would keep up on a mway somehow) he was gutted and
kept giving me evil looks in his mirror when ever we stoped.In the end he was so p****d off that he shot out onto A main road on A blind bend and nearly hit A Merc. What a car tho

Don't get me wrong , I'm sure Clarkson is a lovely bloke , just didn't want to become a topic of ridicule on his next show.
By the way mines a 99 UK , I know it's only a UK and all that but it runs well with a full de cat etc & I tell you now if theres people out there with Scoobs that can keep with these Mercs , big respect coz mine was seriously put to bed. Fun though!!!!

There 2 a penny out here in DE but yes they are quick, also dont forget that most of them are autos and you cant really keep up with a auto in kickdown mode, especially a beast like this, also watch out for the new SL600 twin turbo, supercar merc and thats before the SLR hits the roads.

A friend of mine over took one on the good old Autobahn, and when he slowed down, the guy in the merc overtook him, and gave him a nod of respect

167mph was recorded on the Defi HUD of the P1 in question, as he overtook the Merc

Nice , but lucky for the P1 the Merc had it's limiter in place , I reckon they must be good for 200mph without it.
Still 167mph is flying indeed......Respect.

they are very quick and sound like a spitfire (as describe by clarkson) i had one off a client for a month while he was away.
spent lots of time at petrol stations think i have shares i shell now .
