RAV4 - Anyone got one ?
#1
Just about to order a Rav4. Anyone got experience of these motors ?
The trade papers seem to love them.
Test drive proved what I already thought; great drive and nippy (in petrol guise)
Do I go for the D4-D or petrol engine ?
And if diesel, which chip do you recommend; Van Aaken, Superchips ??
Cheers

As said before, Toyota Portugal will sell me a chip that will take the diesel up to 150cv and I don't know how much torque for about 600 quid.
It's a lot, but I paid an extra 200 for a five year warranty, so to have that power warrantied for 5 years for that price seems pretty good to me!

I drive a Evo 8 and the misses has got a Rav 4 NRG D4D , got to say drives very well for a 4*4, she gets 45mpg and has done about 20k in it and apart from service has had no other work.
PS When I drive its down to 35mpg

Yeah, Petrol 2.0 a bit thirsty, I'd go for a chipped diesel as well.
Have done 40k miles in a 3dr NRG (coy car) and its been great, but only averages about 27-29 mpg.

I have a new D4D in Black. Don't get Black the paintwork is terrible. Get a chip from TTE although it is not recognised in the UK and as such you will loose your warrenty.

Aargh!
I've ordered a VVTi VX in BLACK !
Couldn't get hold of a D4-D in the timescales I needed.
Oh well, always wanted a blacked out pimp mobile anyways
Any tuning stuff for the VVTi engine, suspension etc ?
Seems thin on the ground.
Van Aaken tuning box for the D4-D looks good since you can whip it out quite easily for warranty work....
