Andy,

I havent had any luck in finding the specialist you suggest. You couldnt find out any further info could you mate ?? The location you state would be ideal has the owner lives in Winchester.

Catch up with you at the next meet

I think it is a problem they have address on the 2002 spec model as in mine it displays the oil level on the computer screen before you set off.

Ali,

Yeh that's right mate the 2002 face lift models with the updated interior and centre display now have an oil level readout.

Last service my dealer gave me a 1 litre Shell Helix Ultra top up. I have done 7000miles since then and the oil level is still on the max mark. During the first 2000miles from new I had to add about half a litre but it hasn't used any since then.

Some owners report using up to half a litre every couple of thousand miles though.

FezzR,
Why?

I think the Scoob has more big end failures (No3) than the Alfa Twin Spark.

SteveB,
Sorry I can't help mate and I see you haven't had much joy on the Alfaowner bbs.

Did he run it low on oil or is it second hand? Some Twin Sparks do use oil between services although others don't use any it seems. The problem is the bottom end relies on the oil sumplevel being no lower than the minimum on the dipstick. Let it run lower than that or until it gets down to the pump take off (Oil warning light) and you have probably already caused severe bottom end damage.

Alfa now fit a sticker in the car reminding owners to check the oil level at least once every two weeks. The majority of Twin Spark engine problems have been caused by company owners who don't lift the bonnett between services.

Jlang,
Would that be Ken Bell?
