BMW mini Cabriolet to go with me STI8
#1
Ordered a new mini cabriolet at the weekend. Cost me £500 for the deposit and so far have no idea of what it will look like, when it will be launched, how much it will be, etc etc etc
If ever there was a car you could buy, run for 6 months and still sell for the purchase price or at a profit, i think this will be it.
What say you lot?

Think i would have to disagree with ya there Nick and Jewels. Mind you i aint sure what the soft top will look like when its up.
Still gonna be disirable and worth a bob or two. Cant loose for a £500 returnable deposit either i dont think

I agree with you when you say that you may even make money out of this car...
However, I dont think it will be very good looking, just like the Beetle Cabrio, it will look stupid with the roof folded up perched on the bootlid IMO.
You are right when you say "For a returnable £500 deposit you cant lose". This is a car which will be popular and desirable no matter what it looks like, cause it will be THE car to have for 6 months after its launch, just like the standard Mini was, and still is to a certain extent.
Cheers,
Grant

Thanks for the comment RS.
There is still a waiting list on the cooper S and they seem to change hands for silly money so i think the Cab will be the same.
I'm gonna hold out for the S model though.

And another...
Not so convinced of the looks with the roof down. If they could lose the rear seats and make the roof fold flat, I think it would look great. But I guess it is a comprimise and it would be too expensive to engineer.

Not sure about the hood up look I must admit. Looks like a standard mini one or cooper as well, hopefully the S will look better.
Thanks for the piccy though, much appreciated

I think i agree with you there Carl. Still I guess its still early days and I dont think its being launched till next June so there is still time for them to change it yet

I saw a numberof spy shots when BMW were trying to work out the folded hood option. With the roof out of sight, the car looked stupid, it's rounded end made it look like a bodged beetle rag-top, it needs the 'pram' look, although most pictures (there are some official one out) the roof is no-where near as visible as that pic above.
There are loads of mini-cab pics, just do a search on the web and you'll come up with 100s.
Dealers are ripping off with deposits though, some charging £1000 non-refundable , my local one (where we got Mrs C's from) only want £250 fully refundable

That second picture is of a third party job. I really hope the roof doesn't look like that on the actual production car - it looks too much like a Rover 100 Cabriolet. Remember them?
