Hey - looking for ideas and thoughts folks. Been driving an Impreza Turbo MY99 for the last 3 years and enjoyed it greatly, now looking to trade in and get something new. Shorlisted the following - just looking for thoughts and opinions and maybe some other ideas:

03 Impreza STI
03 Impreza WRX PPP
Focus RS
Golf R32

Other possibility is a Lancer Evo - budgeting at around 23-25k so I'm not too sure what I'd be looking at in terms of Lancers for that sort of money. What are these beasties like to run - always heard they drank petrol like nothing on earth and had a pretty small fuel tank - range of 180-200 miles per tank?

Looking for something that goes better than my current Scooby Turbo in terms of mid range grunt but handles as nicely. Also looking for something that'll hold it's value well.

Cheers,

Chunks

Forget the Focus and Golf. One is 2wd and the other is more of a mile muncher IMO
If you love the Impreza experience then i can't see these two offering what you want.
I'm not saying they're both are not fab cars, but they are very different to an Impreza.

nothing wrong with 2Wd, you could get a BMW M coupe if you wanted a real driver car..

Yeah - always wondered about those Z3M Coupes - you know the things that look like a modern day Scimitar. Always fancied a blast in one but figured it might be the kind of car you had for fun but not an everyday beast?

And I must say what a lovely looking car IMHO of course,
First time I've seen one on the road! and it looked great!

If you loved your MY99 but you want something with mid range grunt, which handles nicely and will hold its value... theres only one option....... 22B

25K is getting into 911 (993) territory - certainly will hold its value. Late model 993s are now fetching more than early model 996s.

Lots of power, RWD, good reliability, running costs / insurance not much difference from a Scoob.

Thanks for the advice folks - phoned around a few places and having a drive of an 03 STI Saturday morning, EVO VI and VII Saturday evening and an R32 Sunday morning. No RS demonstrators to be had anywhere. Looking forward to the weekend :-D

Still trying to hunt down a go in an 22B - pretty scarce?

I'll let you know how the weekend goes.....
