Silverstone Ferrari Experience.
#1
Evening all, before I start let me say that this is my opinion only.......OK.
As above, went to S'stone today and drove the following:
Proton Satria Gti
Lotus Elise 111
Ferrari F355 Gts
Proton, normal road car, 133bhp - Fantastic little car I have to say and the brakes were fantastic and STANDARD except for the pads!
Lotus Elise - WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT - supposed to be such a fantastic car but did nothing for me at all!
Ferrari F355, Looks the dogs bollox, sounds the dogs bollox, goes like stink BUT not as blisteringly quick as one might think. Power is phenominal, left hooker was a little bit of a problem when you've only got 3 laps in it, not to mention it's only over 2/3 of the track, total distance covered just over 7 miles.
I know I probably sound like a complete f@@kwit but there are some
points worth mentioning that I base my opinion on:
1) Crash helmets are worn so you cant see as you would on a road.
2) 3 point harnesses worn so you cant move
3) Bloody instructor advising constantly, although I know why.
4) 15 metre wide track with very little traffic and nothing in close proximaty.
5) Speedometer on Ferrari blacked out, although I did clock 143mph
( nowhere near the alleged 180mph ) very difficult to gauge road speed on track.
6) 3 LAPS IN A CAR IS NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH ESPECIALLY IN A LHD FERRARI WITH THE FAMOUS GATER GEAR CHANGE. TOOK ONE LAP JUST TO GET USED TO IT.
If I sound like a spoilt, ungrateful child I apologise, my scoob has been off the road all week and it was fixed Thursday night. We had a fabulous drive to Silverstone and I was really looking forward to today, especially the Ferrari, but I was really happy to get back into my scoob for the drive home! Irealise that driving the Lotus and Ferrari on the public roads would have been a totally different and much better experience, but I can't help feel a little agreaved at paying £200 for something that I'll be reminded of by looking at the photos and not my memories.
Nice to see the Catalunya parked next to my Wagon on carpark.
I love my scoob, it rocks!
SKOOSH.
