I love them I drove one and found it very grippy but some people have trouble keeping the rear in check Maybe they don't know how to drive a rear wheel drive Try a test drive then you will want one The sound of that vtec revving to 9,500 rpm was awesome They come with a cone filter inside the airbox so take the lid off and listen to that engine scream They have a good level of equipment too and are very comfy I want one

I took one of these out for a test drive as well as a Civic Type R, and I honestly prefered the Civic. I was expecting big things from the 9000rpm redline and 240bhp, but there was very little difference between that and the Civic apart from another £10k. Digital dash, electric hood and push button start are all very nice, but IMHO not worth the extra money over the Civic.

had a ride as a passenger in one round a track. The geezer (ex race driver) could handle it well and got the rear well out on the sharper corners for some fun.
personal verdict: Great fun car
edited to add:
No idea on the financial side of running one of these though

Can I recommend crown honda in bushey.
they are north of london kinda in southern most herts. they are accomodating though and nice people.
We bought ours from there and having had a friend use them for test driving recently, I know they have a demonstrator.

OK Bushy it is
I was looking at a Corvette Stingray but the couple I've looked at have all needed pretty major restoration and I can't be arsed with that.
So i fancy a 2 seater and the S2000 seems to be the best around at the moment.
Cheers guys I'll let you.

Just sold mine last week...
Best engine around, revs to past 9k and a truly remarkable gearbox. Absolutely NO scuttle shake, the car is very strong. Awsome sound when on cam.
The dogs danglies to look at and girls love em...
Noisy with roof up, not much storage inside but boot is ok. Roof takes 6 secs so can be raised/lowered at traffic lights etc.
Stereo mediocre.
The one to buy is the latest model with the glass rear window. Honda have pretty much cured the wayward handling and I never experienced any problems in the wet.
I loved it but needed more practicality hence got an R32. Go to www.s2ki.com uk forum for a more biased view. The views on this site will be biased towards Subaru of course.
Front bumper prone to stone chips but is only 250 to repaint. Other than that, usual Honda reliability.

Got one and LOVE IT!!!
Funnily enough nearly bought Colins (Hi Mate ) but ended up getting a Berlina Black/Black Leather 2001 (X) with 14.5k for £18250. I echo most of the points above except the comment about the CTR being equal. Either it was a bad S or you didn't understand the principles of 9000rpm, 240bhp and RWD. I have previously owned a CTR (now owned by DJ Dunk) and although it is a fantastic FWD car, it is not as rapid or rewarding as a WELL driven S. The S is a car you do have to learn, especially the principles of weight transfer when cornering/directional change. Basically it's a racecar for the road and gives you such a buzz when you get it right. I've just spent a weekend in the Cotswolds with the hood down all weekend and it just don't get much better than that for motoring eutopia.
I am getting a buzz from the S that I haven't had since my STI V Type R V-Ltd and I still miss that car. Nuff said.

I know what your saying but when I say compare I mean if I prefer driving the RB5 then I'm not going to change for the Honda.
I've just had a couple of quotes and I'm a bit shocked
I'm being quoted 2 - 300 more for the S2000 than I am for my RB5

that's because a lot have been totalled by nobbers used to front wheel drive hot hatches
I went out in one that had been taken in p/x and I was told they are not easy to drive quickly and lots have been stuffed into hedges backwards when people have overcooked it

Which goes for any powerful RWD sports car.
RB170 - Come here for more info about what to look for. A coupla guys are selling too.
Regardless, get yourself a test drive and make sure you take it up to the red line a few times as that's how they are supposed to be driven Only you can decide.
