Red face

I know this isn't the best place to ask, but I think I am going to sell the S2000 to release some money and buy a Sierra Cosworth.

Has anybody got any suggestions on where to find a decent one and also I quite fancy a 4x4 is this the one to go for....

Would like a std car if possible with below 80k I am expecting to much ??

Opinions please...looking to spend about 6-7k

I'd start by looking in the RSOC BB, when it's back on line...

I assume your talking about Saf's rather than 3 doors...

I would definatly go for a 4X4, but then it depends what you want to use it for...lot's of people will argue that a rear wheel drive is a true drivers car and that if your going for power then the 4x4 system loses too much power...but then, as always we point the to Martin's car...

You should be able to find a std car with that type of mileage on it without too many hassles, just shop around a bit and look for a good example, as some are getting very tired by now and have had a hard life...

All of this is IMHO of course, and as my mate Sean say's I don;t know the front end of a car from the back...

Cheers for that been keeping an Eye on the board and a mate's dad is a member of the RS Owners club and knows them inside out.

4x4 it is.....need to sell mine first then the hunt starts....Finding it hard at the moment finding a std car with that mileage and some history to back it up

I'd have a quick look on Autotrader as well...

As I've just seen 3, 4x4's on there...and one that looked very good...for 4,995...75K FSH, standard car etc, etc...J plate

Good luck with your search

having owned several cosworths inc escort my advice is lees look for the miles but more look at history and best of all engine rebuilds, they all puff a little smoke but blue black or white heavy smoke is a walk away sign, hpi the car, if possible take someone with you who knows there cars, check for regular oil changes, drive the car listen for gearbox or diff whines(4x4's have a slight noise as all 4x4's do) check all panels and for shoddy repairs ie filler lines etc, check silly things like brake discs and pads as can be pricey, with cossie you get what you pay for but thats not also to say the cheap ones are naff as there are a few bargains out there, gotta remember there old cars now, rust can be bad underside rear chassis rails etc, peolple say seek standard ones but most arnt and if they are they probably were modded once, so my advice is get one sensibly mooded with good history (old mot's etc) as you will only want to mod it anyway, prob forgot loads but any questions email me more than happy to help

Sold the Honda on Sat so now on the lookout. Seems there aren't that many about and the ones which are.....are pretty bad.

A freind is good with these cars so may go and look at a few with him and see what we can find.

I have checked the trader and they are all pretty bad.....going to check the RSOC Board.

Also thanks Astraboy but I am after a 4x4.....but a nice 3 door all the same

M8tt

if you are genuine about buying one

see LEECOS (advert on RSOC bb 4x4 for sale section)

it is a mint car - he is West Yorks regional co-ordinator and has had it years.
he is in two minds whether to sell - but the car is mint - you may need another £1k on your £7k
but you wont find better for that money - and you know you'll have a good looked after one.

I bought another one 4 weeks ago (and it is a good one) - but would have had Lees if I'd known he was thinking of selling.
