Lancer or Lancia????

my heart says Grale - i ve had 2 evos in the past, but my head says the mitsu would be a bit cheaper to run, and more robust.
The grale is so glamourous, the early mitsu's certainly ain't!
TBH if your budget limits you to the older cars then you may not afford to cover the maintenance costs of either car, so its something I would think about very carefully.

Hi, ive got my heart set on a mitsubishi lancer evo4/5 but its looking more likely that i just wont be able to spend all that money. im thinking of a U-turn and looking at a car ive wanted since i was small but always been put off due to LHD and serious reliability and costs...
my question is...... would a 92 integrale cost more to run than a EVO4/5, would it be as reliable?? has anybody had experiance of owning them both>???
its only an idear at the moment but it could be reality especially if i move to italy/belgium as i cant find work here!! :-(
thanks

I had a an Inter EVO2 and I lover it but it did spend its fair time in the garage. EG one day after having it serviced the engin started to spray oil everywhere. £600 later and off the road for a few days.
As you are in london there is a really good Lancia specialist off the Walworth road near elephant and castle. They sell them really cheap and check them all over as well. Just as good as Walkers etc but they just want you to love the car and not rip you off.

This site might help as well

I have a 16v Integrale , when it's running its the Muts BUT I must emphasise 'WHEN' its running!!! The running costs are stupid when you keep having to take it to garages to get it tweaked all the time ( mostly electrical niggles ). As a result along came the Scoob & into hibernation went the Grale. I should sell it but I can't be parted with it ! Think long & hard before buying a Lancia if its going to be your daily drive , saying that theres probably people out there that have had no probs , I wish I was one though!!

I knew they are about as reliable as my ex girlfriend!! lol.... real shame as i love them to pieces ive wanted one for a long time being italian it's just got my name on it but i need a car that will start every day and not need long periods of time in the garage.
Ahhh, you can get them really cheap in italy and if i went there i would get one there as they are all left hookers anyway, somebody i knew used to have a yellow evo3 and it caused him many problems but he sweared by it.
Im gutted.... i guess i'll have to wait until i got enuff money for a lancer evo.

I've had my Evo V for over a year now and, before that, had an Evo II for about 5 months, and I've had no problems whatsoever with either.

no i was talking about an intergrale, i thought the last built were called evo 3's???... it was a L/m reg imported from germany, it was very last of the integrale's in yellow and luvly sport seats. He went thro a gear box and a couple of turbos amungst other things.
What were the official production dates of the integrale 8v, 16v, evo1 and evo 2 then??

the evo 2 was the last - hand built at Maggiora coachworks as opposed to the lancia production line. Big wing seats standard. Smaller turbo, slower than evo 1 with big turbo, due to poor high rev power and increased weight, less moidifiable too.
evo 1 had big wing seats in special editions only - these are the best cars to go for IMHO eg club italia, martini 5, etc
EVO 3 's do not exist, period. Just endless special editions of the evo 2, mainly paintwork and livery changes. includes rare "dealer collection" and "edizione finale" versions.
But..they did test an upgraded version of the evo 2 with purple paintwork (!) and more power as standard it but never made to production. Some photos of it on test track exist.

Some of the last Evo 2 Grales were referred to as 'Evo3' in the French & German motoring press and (allegedly) in some contemporary Fiat promotional material. But you're right: refer to it as a '3' among people who know, and you will be laughed at.
Budget on at least £2k a year for maintenance. But I wouldn't swap mine for any Jap motor.

There are 2 types of EVO 1, the 8v (which was for the swiss market & had lower emissions IIRC) & 16v ...& thats where the confusion comes from, people started calling the 8v the EVO1, the 16v the EVO2 & so the actual EVO2 got promoted to EVO3
Ive got some links somewhere, which I used when buying my EVO...ill try & dig them out
